Miller to return to OSU(?)
ESPN has a piece that "suggests" that Braxton Miller will "likely" return to Columbus. This could really be interesting to watch Meyer navigate what is going to be a difficult situation. Undoubtedly he'll pick the QB who he considers gives the Buckeyes the best opportunity to win. Unless he runs the table, he'll be second guessed ad nauseum.

RE: Miller to return to OSU(?)
That would be a foolish move by Braxton unless he thinks that he can beat out the other two. He may be a great running quarterback but his passing in the pass has always been lacking, especially in comparison to the two younger quarterbacks on the squad.
In my opinion it's Barrett that starts with the hopes that he does well enough to make it into the draft so that Jones can then be the starting quarterback his senior year. Braxton Miller returning and starting next season throws that whole timeline into a mess.

RE: Miller to return to OSU(?)
I heard that Braxton Miller did not expect to be fully recovered from his injury by now. So it may be in his best interest to stay at OSU and continue to rehab.
It may be in his best interest to also start out the season on the bench and gradually work himself back to 100%.
You never know, the way the OSU QB's continuously get hurt, Miller may need to start just about the time he's back to 100%. and even if he never starts again, he had a outstanding career at Ohio St. I can see why he may want to stick around for another national title run.

Right, if Miller is not sufficiently recovered to play as well as he can play, then he would do more for his draft status standing on the sideline in an Ohio State uniform than playing at a sub-par level elsewhere.

I don't think it will happen because Miller won't want it and Meyer won't push it, but the best thing for Miller's draft status would be to play as a wide receiver. He isn't going to get drafted except very late as quarterback in all likelihood regardless and stands a lot more room to improve if he switched.
That said, I've seen nothing to suggest that is in the cards and think he comes back and competes for the starting role. My money would be on him and Jones on and off with JT Barret taking a greyshirt year to fully heal (he could be back, but won't be 100% and given the competition, will probably be ahead to go that route).

Is that the talk within the Ohio State sphere that Barrett needs a whole year to heal up?

For those who are having problems with short term memory, like me, if memory serves, Ohio State won the national championship with a 3rd string QB. So it's not outside the realm of possibility to see Miller starting by season's end. You just never know.

I don't think a whole year is necessary, but the impression I've gotten is that he won't be fully ready come fall camps. If you didn't have 2 other great quarterbacks, you'd make do. Since we do, it might be in everyone's best interest to give it extra time. This will be especially on their minds given Braxton Miller got hurt pre-season last year after spending the off-season recovering from the Orange Bowl injury.

Since Barrett has already used his redshirt season, he will lose this year's eligibility whether he plays or not, unless he seeks a medical redshirt for a sixth year of eligibility. Unless he plans to stay that long, there's not much point in him staying on the sidelines once he is fully healed. I believe he also missed his senior year in high school due to an ACL tear. Is he fragile?

Sure but the reason why it was so spectacular and heavily talked about was because it's never happened before. Sure, he could stay on with hopes of that happening again but that would be like depending upon winning the lottery twice.
To actually depend upon that happening two years in a row? Not a great life plan.

True. But I've seen lightning strike the same place more than once before. You just never know.
However, since Miller is mainly there to rehab an injury, it's not that big a problem. He's not needed presently, and may never be. But if he is needed, it probably won't happen until he's ready for it. So it works out for him either way.

I get it, if he is still injured then going elsewhere is only going to show off that injury and probably make it worse. At Ohio State, if he is still injured, he will be able to rehab and blame not playing on the fact that they have two other great quarterbacks.
He would make for a great second string quarterback in the NFL to help the Defense prepare for some of the mobile quarterbacks of the League and....with the new rule that just passed already being called the "Tebow" Rule, having Braxton on the roster to run the ball in from the two yard line isn't a bad weapon to have.

That was pretty much my thinking. He's already proven his talent. All he needs to do now is prove his legs are sound.
