So, in the end, the Rockets lost by 17 to the National Champions
and by 26 to Eastern Michigan.
Weird, huh?

Just two teams that went in different directions as the season progressed. With all those freshmen, Duke had to be a better team at the end of the year than they were early on, although as I recall they were ranked #2 when UT played them.
What I remember is Krzyzewski's post game talk about how Toledo is the kind of team that will give a higher rated team a fit come NCAA time. Same thing last year after the Kansas game----"Toledo is not the kind of team you want to play in the first round of the NCAA" etc. etc. Unfortunately so far these "higher rated teams" have not had to worry about facing Toledo in the NCAA----at least not for the past 35 years.
It is actually kind of a sad commentary when losing a game by 17 points turns out to be one of the highlights of the season-----even if it is to the eventual national champion.

Maybe they didn't take Duke seriously and just didn't have that "swagger" that night?
Seriously, those flattering comments from Coach Krzyzewski last December, hurt them. They never got any better after that game.
