This post is for you. I talked with Tim Bond at the game on Friday. He is a delightful young man. I shared with him that I thought he, Raven Lee and Justin Thompson were the best players in the entire MAC at their respective positions. He just smiled and laughed respectfully. I told him that I believe this team could beat Pitt and SMU if they played hard, to their potential and confidently. He agreed and had another big smile. He said there's a battle between Madray and Steele for the starting center spot. Guess this means Thompson is definitely playing power forward like most of us assumed. Finally I asked him when he has his next break away slam he should rock the cradle with the ball (ala MJ) and dunk it ( Google MJ's dunk at NC with coach Smith comments). He gave me another respectful smile and asked where I usually sit so he could point to me after his next dunk lol. Very impressed with Tim Bond on and off the court. Again credit to coach Murphy for bringing in talented student athletes who seemingly are great young men!

Tim Bond is a solid young man. Jordan Nobles too. They both have a sincere appreciation for the game, the doors it has opened for them, and they're never shy about working with kids as a means to give back. If you've ever seen a Rob Murphy Foundation event then you know that they are great with the kids. If you haven't... Take my word for it.

Kind of OT for this thread, but yes, Steele and Madray will be in the middle.

As for me, I only get to see a few in person games a year, so Timmy can point to the cameras for me. :)

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
just wanted to make note of recruiting sites:

Most folks who follow basketball recruiting follow: Verbalcommits.com
It does an excellent job of 'aggregating' information from many sources into formats which are very easy to follow.

Those who are interested specifically in MI h.s. basketball recruiting:
prephoops.com/michigan/
It is a pay site with both free and pay stuff.
The pay stuff is excellent, very detailed, etc.

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
This post isn't 'breaking news', but prospects from MI continue to commit.

#1 Xavier Tillman commited today to MSU.

#2 & 4 prospects, Jamal Cain and Ike Eke, to Marquette. and #3 Livers to UofM.

#5 and #6 are Gregory Elliott and Jermaine Jackson Jr. both uncommitted and targeted by EMU. (also #10, Hardy).

#7 and # 9 are also off the board. Not sure about #8.

As the chips are 'falling into place' we have a pretty good idea of most of the top 10 seniors in MI. (Epps is just outside the top 10 in the rankings I follow closest).

I have not heard any good rumors on Elliot, Jackson or Hardy.

Here are Steve Bell's Bankhoops rankings. Elliot, Jackson and Hardy are all top 10 in MI class of 2017.

With 4 weeks to go before the initial signing day, I'm still surprised no movement on Jackson, Elliot and Hardy, the last 3 of the top 10 remaining.

I have no idea where any of those three will sign next month, if at all.

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Getting a verbal from a SG makes a ton of sense.

I don't know if Harris is really a SG or a SF, so we need help at SG.

I feel very confident at all of the other positions on the team.

Assuming both Silver and Epps sign in three weeks (day after the election), I assume a PG is the only position needing shoring up (to back up Jackson).

Or do you roll the dice and have Bond play backup next year at PG and go with another SG? On the surface the instate 2018 class is very loaded and you may other options at PG in that class. I'd love to have Jackson, Hardy but Elliott may be the best all around player remaining at least instate wise. I'm guessing but not sure that all 3 players signing in this class may be true frosh a true rarity during Murphy's tenure.

By the way apparently Silver visited in early October. I'm thinking he is a sleeper. His game reminds me of a taller Toney.

Nice looking jumper. That wingspan is very evident too...he looks like the long athlete that Murphy loves. Point guard skills in the video left a little to be desired, but his size and quick release look to me like a college SG. He and Epps both look like keepers.

Agree with everything you say.

With this class Murphy has the option of going whatever direction he wants. Sometimes in the past, I'm not sure he REALLY had the option to go h.s. player. Now he does.

Next Summer and Fall will be fun with at least 5 or 6 newly eligible players, including Jackson, Harris, Minnie, Silver and presumably Epps. And there could be more...

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
BTW, I went to the EMU online roster and did a quick count of players who would be expected to play next year (2017/18) and counted 10 on campus.

Add Silver and we get 11. Assume Epps and we are up to 12.

Bottom line: I count ONE available scholarship which is open.

That sets up a 'perfect scenario' with EMU having offered three top PG / SGs who are top 10 in MI and could take the first to say "yes."

Charles Anderson-Louie ('19, Warren Woods Tower, SG/PG, 6-2): On his unofficial visit to EMU.

Bankhoops underclassmen guard camp write up:

Charles Anderson-Louie  6-3  So  Warren Woods Tower: Talent that needs to be refined. Good second effort on the offensive glass, can deliver passes. Needs to move his feet quicker on defense.
“Big, strong shooting guard with similarities to Willie Green, without the athleticism,” a coach said. “Can stroke it from deep consistently. Maybe the best on the day in his class shooting it.”
