National Media Updates
It looks like the national media is starting to publish internet articles about the Faculty Senate Vote. I will update the thread with other national articles as I see them.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-s...56230.html

http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...-president

http://www.foxsports.com/college-footbal...tts-011515

http://www.nbcsports.com/college-footbal...-president

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nca.../21800671/

http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/u...t-28249773

Sadly, most of what has been posted is same AP crap.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...ll-dropped
(Jon Solomon article - references Watts and report discrepancies)

BTW not national but a great interview by Dr Susan Key of the faculty senate: http://www.myfoxal.com/story/27857724/ua...-ray-watts

RE: National Media Updates
Witt & Brooks have comments mentioning support for Watts.

Obviously they haven't thought this through.

Pre-prepared, I imagine. That's ok. They're going to have to defend him.

RE: National Media Updates
Yeah, I think Watts and the BOT knew this would be happening for a few weeks now and have a communication strategy prepared to respond to the vote of no-confidence.

I think the only thing they can do is to stick to their message "UAB Forward" (I wonder how much money they spent to focus group that phrase). Note how they don't respond to any aspect of what happened, just that they want to move UAB forward in the right direction, as if it was moving in the wrong direction before Watts got there.

Read Archibalds article: http://www.al.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015...isi_1.html

So much as come out already including recordings and accounts that contradict the presidents lies etc., but yet the BOT didn't say or do anything. Even after the USGA, GSA and faculty senate have voted no confidence the BOT happens to come out in support of Watts.

Although they may be vocally supporting, some of the board members have to be thinking about this, especially if legislators could potentially get involved.

We may need SACS to do something and the local and national media to hammer the board for the next few months. If SACS comes into play their current media strategy becomes moot with a lack autonomy. If we let the 90-day study happen they would probably just prepare a media strategy to deal with the results that would show that they shouldn't have killed football.

Odd to see that thrown in there. LOL

I understand that if UAB is sanctioned there is NO way that the BOT could still vocally support Watts with UAB being on SACS probation and no-confidence.

Can SACS sanction UA as well as UAB (since they are in the same system and their people are pulling the strings) or just UAB.

Edit:
I really hope that some major SACS complaints have been filed that have not been placed on Blazertalk. I would really love for the administration and BOT to be caught off guard.

One commenter on one of the AL.COM articles mentioned that a no confidence vote in a university president has to be reported to SACS and the Department of Education within 7 days. Anybody know anything about this? According to that person, the NC vote starts a whole lot of wheels into motion automatically.

You know, you just gave me an idea.

UAT's QEP report is due six days after ours (Monday the 19th) which places their deadline for third party comments also six days after ours (Wednesday the 21st).

My brothers and sisters, I believe we have some form-filling-out to do in re: the firing of Guy Bailey, the appointment of Jo Bonner, the appointment of Judy Bonner and ... surely many more.

We can make it about UAT. We need to make it about UAT.

Like Ray Watts, we have work to do. We fight.

I'll post this in the Facebook group. There are a lot of people that I'm sure would like to pile this on them, Alumni from Tuscaloosa as well.

Interesting, but unfortunately I don't know much about what happened there. Do you think all parties involved signed NDAs like the have UAB admin sign?

We'll need some rapid research, and some pre-filled forms like we had for UAB would be good.

This is how we inflict the maximum damage possible on the Board of Trustees. This is how we fight.

RE: National Media Updates
"Although the "No Confidence Vote" by the UAB Student Government and the same vote by the UAB Senate Faculty are symbol they will be justification (trigger) S.A.C.S. to place UAB on a "Show Cause" status: Dr. Watts will have to prove he has the ability to lead the university; what justified the vote and are there any violations of governing guidelines. By law, S.A.C.S. has to notify the U.S. Department of Education within 7 days of the "No Confidence Votes". The Department of Education will then place the university on a "Administrative Capability" status ordering Full "Program Review" of UAB. Each review will be extremely costly and UAB will have to pay the tab. Neither S.A.C.S. or the Department of Education have the authority to fire the President, but they have the authority (based on their reviews) to deny accreditation licensure yearly renewals and can suspend all financial aid until a President is appointed who meets their standards."

Secondly, if U.A.B. operates independent of U.A. having been assigned its own P.P.A.(Program Participation Agreement) with the Department Of Ed., and funds financial aid with a different I.F.N. (institutional Funding Number) than U.A. then S.A.C.S and Department of Ed. can force changes in the Boards. Not sure why or how U.A. and U.A.B. have got by so long with S.AC.S. and Department of Ed., but there is a Conflict of Interest in U.A.B.'s Board structure. However, now that these issues are in the face off S.A.C.S., the U.S. Department of Ed. and the public, changes are coming to U.A.B. - regardless of why, and how it happened. Dr. Watts can be forced out of his position for lack of "Administrative Capabilities".

Comment by "Thegirlsdad" on the AL.COM article titled "UAB Undergraduate Student Government passes resolution of no confidence in President Ray Watts".

This is what I was referring.

You guys, do NOT contact SACS directly. Let the process work. The last thing we need is to accidentally do something that messes up our SACS review. We're more likely to offend or anger someone than we are to influence them.

There is plenty of very real evidence for them to look at. Let them work it.

I am sure Westmoreland is aware of "rumors" of UABOT shenanigans - living in B'ham and being plugged into academic circles. Also, there are several former UAB business professors now teaching at Samford.
