Plus real weight room work will make his hands stronger --- which he *really*[/u] needs IMO.
No kidding. Nichols has to get a lot stronger. He gets pushed around almost as much as DJ, and that's saying something.

RE: NICHOLS...
Austin has actually gotten taller since this past summer and he still may grow some more.
He just needs minutes. That's gonna benefit himself and the team tremendously.

RE: NICHOLS...[vs Rutgers]
Note- he will get stronger- older- and bigger.
He is eons ahead of DJ Stephens as a freshman, or even as a a sophomore or Junior- before DJ had a nice Senior season- where, unfortunately, his lack of strength ultimately hurt in the final game. Which in no way takes away from the fact hat DJ worked hard, improved tremendously, was a legitimate all conference level player, got important rebounds, blocked important shots- and was very valuable.
Tough to imagine a Senior Nichols would not be incredibly difficult to face- but applied to this season- him getting tougher now will be a big boost for us.

RE: NICHOLS...[vs Rutgers]
It's not a question of skill with Austin. It's playing hard the minutes he's in the game. Getting stronger and more experienced would take care of that. He doesn't have the stamina in some games. I think he had a stomach bug before the last game. I believe Austin has the brains to know what he has to do in the future and will do it. He's going to be a great Tiger player before he's through.
