Game week: PSU
Hopefully we can have more facts and less of the other stuff here:

1). Donald Coleman sits the 1st half per NCAA rules on hitting a defenseless defender. I didn't see the play. Cotton starts in his place.

2). The Vegas lines seem to be EMU a 23 point underdog. Total points for the game around 49. That comes out to a 'projected score' of 36 -13.

I think EMU scores more like 21 points. PSU 42. I like the 'over' 49 bet in this game. I'm a big fan of Benz, Hill, Jackson, and Russell. :)

3). How good is PSU? PSU beat Syracuse by less than a TD. Syracuse is a 12 point underdog to Northwestern. Not a lot of love in Vegas? PSU is not in the class of OSU, UofM, etc. in the B1G. Did Syracuse make PSU look better than they are? Syracuse has a new HC.

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=332430213

4). I wanted to watch the PSU QB, Christian Hackenberg, but the game was blacked out on my Watch ESPN replay. Hackenberg is a true frosh and former teammate of our frosh WR Stone. Apparently he is an efficient passer. I watched only a few minutes live Saturday. I think Hackenberg and Benz might have similar games. Don't think Hackenberg is particular mobile or a good runner. He could have trouble with the B1G teams who rush the QB really well.

Here are the 2-deeps (page 12)

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/psu/...elease.pdf

5). Robinson (WR) is the PSU go to man on offense! He played only the 2nd half and had 7 catches for 133. Rushing was anemic.

6). Think I heard that PSU is now down to 65 scholarship players (a year early?) which is part of the NCAA sanction.

7). Any PSU fans want to chime in????

Dear steve,
Watched a replay of the Syracuse game, and I really think this is a game we can win. I would agree with your statement of Robinson (I think his number was 8), but boy their ground game was terrible, and I think their defense is only so-so.
Like I said on a different post, Eastern will have to bring its 'A' game, but I think it's a possibility. If, nothing else, we should not get blown out.

We're better (than years past) and Penn State ain't (ain't what they used to be).

I did re-watch the 1st quarter last night. I did have the 1st half taped.

I'm expecting a competitive game and high scoring (PSU isn't a good offensive team but good enough to put say 35 or more on us and we should put up a significant number of points also).

I've seen some blow up PSU/EMU games but this shouldn't be one...

I am headed to the airport now. I will take the over. I think a shoot out.

This is not a game to play by the book I.e. PSU doesn't have a good offense.

RE: Game week: PSU
Guys,

Call me crazy but I believe we have a better then fair chance in beating Penn State and Rutgers. From what I seen from Penn, they are still fresh and still learning each other on the offensive side of the ball.. I think we will be able to handle their great WR with help over the top.. The thing that scare me about him is when will he break one.. We must show them different looks before the snap of the ball or we are in trouble.

I would blitz them at the start of the game on 3rd down and later, show blitz and walk out of it..

On 1&2 down, why not go with 6 in the box?

On 3rd down, I would bring people from difference area (not from the same area)..

The Rutgers game, I will wait on but yes, we can win this one also..

Rutgers put up 500+ yards and 51 points against a Fresno team that is better than us. The only way we stay in that one is if Benz and Hill have a "Toledo 2.0" day, and it's unreasonable to expect that against an AQ team. I think they'll give us a worse beating than PSU will.

I agree that EMU has a slim chance of beating either PSU or Rutgers. The one thing EMU has going for it is these team might be looking past EMU and play an enthused game with vanilla play-calling.

Rutgers had 4 months to prepare for the Fresno game, so they was ready and they still gave up lots of points to Fresno State..

I am not sure if everyone is aware but Rutgers defense sucks badly. I watched them in last bowl game and they should had lost.. They offense was brutal and I was not impressed with what I saw during the 1st game. (I must say I didn't see the whole game).

I give us a fighting chance to pull off the 2nd week upset..

The Ball State game scares me...

BSU should scare you less than PSU or Rutgers.

The unfortunate thing about PSU is that in another year or two EMU will have a real chance to beat PSU as the sanctions begin to take their toll. PSU is going to be a thin team for quite awhile and O’Brien has already stated that he wants to be a NFL coach.

Alas, EMU has games vs Florida, MSU, and LSU in the near future.

After the shameful goings on that went through Not-So-Happy Valley a few years ago and your impending doom due to sanctions you would be wise to not to talk smack. You haven’t the right to insult others.

"Collage" football? I guess they don't teach spelling and grammar at Penn State (although you're probably just a bandwagoner). You're obviously going to beat us, since you're a Big Ten team and we are a low-end MAC team, but WE is right...if any fanbase should bite their tongue in terms of smack talk, it's the Nittany Lions.

The PennState fans are talking smack? i've been watching since monday and i see some of you fans on here talking smack about us lol.

My dad almost went to PennState but two of my uncles did back in the 80's and one of them was a wrestler plus i'm 34 so no i'm not a bandwagon fan.

I did say collage football for example take a look at you're football history is there something wrong eastern michigan fans must be the IQ level isn't right
