Assuming FSU & Clemson jump... who are your two for 13 and 14?
Pick 2 and reply with your rationale.
Ground rules:
1- Not putting ND as we know they are arguably target 1
2- VT and UNC are off the board
3- All SEC, B1G, and PAC schools off the board as well
4- I don't think half of these schools have a shot but wanted to see board opinion and included more than needed.
5- PICK TWO and ONLY TWO.

GT and UL.
GT provides a rival for FSU and Clemson. Also a recruiting base in Atlanta and a strong academic add.
UL provides a program well positioned to grow going forward. Regional fit with a lot of potential and a committed AD. Minor rival with WVU.
Notes:
IF we are stopping at 14 I would not mind BYU over UL. Put them in the West with the Texoma 6 and the rest in the east.
IF Miami is ok after the NCAA issues they would jump UL. That is a BIG if though.

I'll go with Georgia Tech and Pitt. The Atlanta market and Georgia's fertile recruiting grounds make GT a no brainer, if they're interested. I picked Pitt because I'd like to see the Backyard Brawl continue, even though that's a long shot at best. But since you left out VT, who I'd rate above anyone else on the list not named GT, Pitt was the best of what was left IMO...

I went with Louisville and Georgia Tech. I don't think Miami U brings that much to the table.

UL and Cincinnati. Old rivals and friends. Fill in gaps for WVU. Both on the move in Football and help the Big12 with great Basketball. Next choice was Pitt.

I hope the sign FSU and Clemson and stay put at 12 teams. I think that's the perfect number of teams, I'm not a fan of super conferences.

I voted GT and Rutgers. Both for markets to market a Big 12 Network. But the reality is, I would rather have Maryland than Rutgers, but that wasn't an option. If they went 16, and we got Maryland at 14, Notre Lame (for ALL sports, period) and whoever Notre Lame wanted at 16.

NC State (Carter Finley) stadium holds 60k good fanbase close to GA Tech. GA tech is in Atlanta good academics. This combo would put a huge hole in the ACC ship. Nice geographical connection NC, SC, GA, FL. All 4 in a row. Now throw in Pitt & Va tech & my life would be complete

Louisville & Cincinnati. Both are rivals, UC football has become pretty damn good, both schools were building towards a rival with WVU, they help fill the gap, the regional markets both have to offer is outstanding, Louisville is soon to become a top 20 revenue school, UC has good academics, the facilities at UofL are probably the best in the country, Louisville would expand PJCS to 65,000+ and UC would move all conference games to PBS and bring average attendance up to IMO 45,000+, both schools would boost Big 12 basketball making it one of the top 3 basketball conferences, ect....I could go on.

Despite the good sized fan base and good overall athletic department that BYU would bring, I think if we could land some of those other schools in the eastern or central time zone then it would be best for the league.
I wouldn't really want to spread 3 timezones again like TCU had to do in the MWC.

I voted for Louisville and Georgia Tech because they connect all the schools (note blue to red) togather and the Big 14 would have schools in the SEC's and ACC's foot print:
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Louisville
West Virginia
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Florida State
Texas
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
And Bit, Pitt does not bring any value. However, West Virginia could still schedule the Backyard Brawl with Pitt.

Although Maryland was not listed, I would target Maryland and GT to join the Big 12. PITT could always be added as a Non-Conf game.

Everyone has the right to free opinion but just because Maryland is a rival with WVU does not mean you should pick them. You did at some point WVMntneer say its about football...Well Maryland is doo-doo in football terms. Louisville & Cincinnati are way ahead of the Terps.

No offense to any of their fans but Cincy is very far down the list.

Won't happen but NCST over GT would be Awesome add. Same with VT. Everyone says SEC for those two but I'm leaning towards the 12 making the first move for at least one.

I'm surprised that California is not in the picture..Everyone knows that the hottest recruiting is in Florida, Texas and California. IF the nbe fails in two years wouldn't it be great to grab SDSU and Fresno State to stab the heart of California recruitment and the Pac 12? Just a thought to put into everyones' minds. PS. Both schools have excellent facilities and if it needs improvement it isn't a major rebuilding project. Besides FSU already plays Big 12 teams a lot times in all sports. Don't know about SDSU since they will be in the BE playing those schools.. who wants out the BE ASAP.

We aren't at a point to have to take non-geographic fits. If we want Boise, SDSU, BYU, or any MWC team we could have them right now. The more lucrative options are eastern with the possible exception of BYU.

Y'all SMU needs to be an easy get. SMU is an academic version of Ole' Miss - Same charm, high academics (top 25) and SWC rivalries
