We maintained a presence on the LA Tech campus for 97 years, but was shut down in 1999 3 years short of our centennial. Membership the last three years dipped too low to keep the fraternity going and LA Tech was looking for reasons to eliminate many of its fraternities at that time.
Epsilon Gamma chapter of LXA here. We lost our charter in '98 after some Animal House like events, but were reestablished 10 years later (I was part of the (re)founding class). Holy sh!t, I just realized that I joined nearly 10 years ago.

So who here has pledged? Any stories to share? The more embarrassing and/or disgusting, the better
We have some things in common. I was the President of a fraternity at East Carolina. I transferred to George Mason and graduated.
When I taught pledges as a member of the fraternity, I did not do anything which resembled hazing. Hazing should be treated as a criminal act and law enforcement should be brought in. In addition, hazing is a violation of a university's honor code. If found guilty, expulsion from the university should be the punishment.

RE: Greek Life
Greek life at Miami is a whole animal in itself, being home to like seven alpha chapters plus the DZ sorority combined with Oxford's isolation created some extreme conditions. If I had dollar every time an org got probation, suspension, was expelled, or the IFC / Panhel placed everyone on 'lockdown' (usually in response to unusually high hazing allegations and alcohol hospitalizations during spring process, if one of your pledges was sent during this period you were almost signing a death sentence) I'd probably have enough money to pay for a semester's worth of textbooks.
The whole vibe was a little too preppy for me. I joined a non-IFC fraternity, though got plenty of exposure to Greek life since probably over half of the business school was in it.

Omega Psi Phi-Upsilon Zeta
I crossed and we were suspended quickly after. Managed to save myself from expulsion. I'm not going to lie, I didn't really like the experience in college. The parties were great, the networking was greater, but we just couldn't get our sh*t together as a group.
I really enjoy being an alumnus though.
Also did Kappa Kappa Psi- Kappa Sigma.
I enjoyed that a whole lot.
