What sports for colleges?
Talking about wrestling makes me perpetually disgusted with Title IX. A bunch of selfish leftists come in w/ a perverse definition of "fair" and hurt a lot of people.

That being said, what sports do you think all Div I schools should strive to have? Here's my list, although I include a few as "optional" based on weather.

Mens
Football
Wrestling
Basketball
Soccer
Hockey (optional)
Track
X-Country
Baseball (o)
Swimming (o)
Tennis (o)

Lacrosse or Water Polo? Fine, but they're not for everyone.

Womens
Basketball
Volleyball
Softball
Soccer (o)
Track
X-Country
Swimming (o)
Tennis (o)
Field Hockey (o)
Cheerleading

Honestly, that balances out pretty well too. No need for Title IX.

Trying to keep the Sports Bar interesting.

Yeah, that's one that should be on the list. Possibly both lists.

Don't Ivy Leaguers do that rowing stuff where 6 or 7 guys work their asses off while a guy yells at them through a small traffic cone?

I wouldn't expect a nation of crew teams.

A lot of schools have crew teams, Torch. I used to see them rowing up and down the Kanawha River back home when the schools would come to row against the University of Charleston's (formerly Morris Harvey College) team. If an NAIA school can do it, anybody can...

I'm not knocking crew, I just wouldn't expect it for most colleges. Nor would I expect many people to get upset if their college didn't have a team. When I was at ASU, the Rio Salado was usually dry. I imagine there are plenty of schools in locations where a crew team is impracticle.

I'm not suggesting restricting sports at colleges, I'm suggesting a robust list of expected sports offered at colleges.

Tennessee has a crew team. They practice near the Bull Run TVA plant on the Holston River in Oak Ridge, and have their matches there as well. It's a nice long straight stretch of river...
