SOS will jump up playin 2 top 10 teams and 3 of the top 25. RPI would likely drop if you lose, though. Remember, winning % and losing at home counts 1.6 no matter who you play under this goofy calculation.

Would be a fine idea to win at leadt one of these next 3 games.

Syracuse win would be huge. WVU seems like the most realistic. I'm going with 1-2. during this stretch.

Winning at WVU is a really tall order. That crowd is nuts and some interesting calls seem to be made on that floor. UCONN might be the best bet despite some of the matchup issues.

Beating Cuse would rend the space-time continuum.

Cincinnati matches up the best with West Virginia, but Huggins will work the refs...always seems like the foul disparity is gigantic up there. I guess Syracuse is the best chance because its at home with the big monday emotion, but I am not confident about it at all...

That's my biggest concern with the WVU game as well. Couldn't buy a call last year and that was at home. I fear the fat man will spend every timeout screaming at the officials and it will result in twice as many fouls and half the FT attempts, just like the Rutgers game last Saturday. 8 on 5 is a tall order to overcome.

WVU reminds me of X and Duke to a degree. Students are right on top of the action and are rabidly into it. I swear it influences some if these refs. Each of those schools consistantly get fat on home cookin'.

The loud boos and f bombs after every foul called on the home team probably has something to do with it...

Don't forget about the rifle toting mascot that always looks a bit on the crazy side.

Quote:Some WVU fans, primarily in the student sections, have developed a reputation for unruly behavior, being compared to "soccer hooligans" by GQ magazine. At some events, there have been cases of objects thrown onto the field or at opposing teams. There were previously also issues with small-scale fires, most notably of couches, being set after games; over 1,100 intentionally-ignited street fires were reported from 1997 to 2003.

I think I'd be happy with 1-2....I just hope no 0-fer. I will gladly take 2-1 though.

FWIW ... UC back in Lunardi's Bracketology (kinda) #12 seed as one of the 4 "play in " games .

He had us as one of the last four in last week too. We go out and beat Georgetown on the road and beat Nova and we are still one of the last four in in his bracket. What an "expert" he is.

He's actually pretty good at his job.

Get to 21 wins before MSG and we deserve it. Come up short, probably don't regardless of RPI or Joe Lunardi's opinion.

He had us in the last 4 in just before our loss to St. Johns @ home. That loss, deservingly, dropped us out of his bracket. The next two win got us back in. Given that our RPI is still 100+, I find it hard to get upset with anyone willing to put us in the field at this point.

Making unverifiable "predictions?"

All you have to do is look at the numbers and the committee's history. Mark does a good job of it every year. It takes time, but it involves more than just throwing darts at the board.

RE: UC 110 in RPI
He adjusts through out the year, but his predictions at the end of the season, are pretty accurate. He stuck up for us at the end of last season though. People weren't sure if we'd be in or not and he was on ESPN right before.. I want to say the providence game? The host asked him if what difference the game would make, would it decide if we got in and he replied It would be the difference between a single digit seed and a double digit seed.

Touching, I know lol
At any rate, just keep clawing out victories.
That's all they can do anyway.

It's not difficult at all to get all but, say, 5 teams right. Everyone single talking head can do that (they also all inflate their accuracy by including the teams that got auto bids in their tallies - they say they got 66 of 68 right, when it's actually only 35 of 37). So it just comes down to a few picks. He missed 3 teams last year, and got 30 of them in their right seed - less than half.

But at least he can be judged on his end of season bracket (not that anyone bothers to - he's ESPN's expert of course!). This midyear stuff is just total guessing. It's pointless to look at.

With the next 3 games against teams in the top 15 of the rpi, surely UC will move up.
