Yikes
I'm not the biggest Steve Pederson fan and would love to see him gone after this search is over. Never cared for him and so on.

But man I must put this out there... Why in the hell do folk on the Lair and Digest trip the f*ck out once 1 or 2 posters say this thing may be falling apart. We don't know that it is or not. Why are some of us ready to hop a cliff over NOTHING... Nothing?

If the Crystabol thing falls apart so be it. I really like Cryst. And I also understand that he may not be the greatest speaker or even recruiter. But that's where assembling a great staff comes into play.

One other note, if Pitt wants to become a top 25-30 program then we really need to pay the coach and staff that kind over money. I'm also not saying pay Coach Nola from Clairton $6M a year and expect to see results either.

RE: Yikes
I think part of it is just the idiocy of the people posting. They just spew the company line or whatever and on those boards it's just pure negativity and hatred.

On the other hand, I think Pederson has brought this on himself. He earned their hatred. Even beyond the hatred is where I think you and I stand on the matter - he's just not the right guy for this job anymore. He's got an awful track record at hiring coaches and inspires zero confidence that he'll be able to right the ship. He's also known by many as a guy who does things his own way in an arrogant fashion. His failings are Nebraska are well publicized. They still think the best day in Nebraska history was the day he was fired.

Like I said, I'm not confident he's going to get the job done well. He just has a terrible track record in hiring football coaches.

Personally, I have 0 faith in Pederson. NONE. Never liked the guy, never will. I just want to wait until there is a Presser before I judge this search. So far, I actually think he's doing fairly well.

RE: Yikes
I've stated that many posters on those sites fall into 2 camps: Yinzers who obsess over all things Pittsburgh and WPA (WPIAL is the bestest ever!!!!) and the Cosmopolitans who find it offensive that their school is located in Pittsburgh. Both sets of dopes are actually 2 sides of the same coin.

Regarding SP, I don't know what to make of him. I think his first go around, although more controversial with the logo changes, blowing up Pitt Stadium, etc, was a much better time for Pitt athletics. Despite his huge ego in his first stint, he saved Pitt athletics. His second go around has been much more mundane and low key. But the guy evidently still is not well liked by the people that work for him and a few people in high places at Pitt.

I hear ya. I fall into the camp that the WPIAL and PIAA football is generally overrated. We're not a bad state at football around the top 10-15 range.

Ultimately I think the problem is fan bases are simply impatient. They want things to happen right here and right now. And these processes just don't happen like that. The BOT, Boosters, and President has to agree with the hire.

From what I've seen on Scout, I think the majority of fans are supporting the Chryst hire. I think Pitt scored a coup with this guy and I also think TG did Pitt a favor by running off so quickly.

That does seem to be the latest from Camp Tardicaca. I'm sure their tunes will change after the first incompletion or stuffed running play next year.

I'm glad Graham is gone too. I thought he was doing a good job here and I think that he's a pretty good football coach but apparently his heart wasn't in it. If that's the case, we have no room for at the Inn. Commitment starts at the top and works its way down. We need a coach who can show commitment and clearly that wasn't Graham's forte.

Bring on Chryst.
