I know, I was worried Falling Skies would go the way of Firefly.

RE: OT: Falling Skies on TNT
Finally watched both episodes. Watched one on Monday night, but the wife was falling asleep near the end and wanted me to wait on her to finish the season.
There is no way that RPG hit a moving aircraft at that altitude with a guy just aiming it, in the dark, and firing. Heck, shooting skeet with a shotgun full of birdshot at lower altitude can be challenging, but to lead the ship like that and score a direct hit, nah. I know it is a Science FICTION TV show about aliens invading the planet, but try to keep at least some things realistic.
I totally didn't see the ending coming though. Not sure why they're keeping Rick around. His dad is gone, he's lost somewhere between a Skitter and a Human, and gave up all their details to the skitters and ruined the plan of blowing up the structure above the city. If I was Tom Mason, I'd have brought him back to the school, dead and on my back. Let the doc do an autopsy and hopefully find something that might save Ben from changing further into a Skitter.

Nope, I'm more a survival of the fittest kind of guy. If you're not with me, you're against me! Especially if you're crawling up the wall, hurting old men, and giving up our plan of attack. Shoot him execution style and let the little doc do her thang. She already autopsied the skitter and found out about the harness inside. Let's see if she can figure out how it transforms them, even after it has been removed.

Intel my friend. Even if he just has an idea as to tactics that might be used without actually knowing the next alien move he's worth keeping around.

RE: OT: Falling Skies on TNT
They are going to either cure Rick or use him to feed the enemy bad intel.
The special effects on the two-legged aliens is a bit cheap, to me.
I like the series, but it moved way too slowly, did not offer enough interaction or showing of the aliens; it always seems to be early fall despite many months of the story; I don't understand why they just hung out at the school, undetected, for so long; how is it that the aliens could detect groups of 300, then 150, but not our group?; how did so many aircraft fly over our people without ever strafing them or at least reporting their locations?; don't the aliens have something like our J-Stars program, which can target one or two vehicles or even a few men and blow them away from hundreds of miles away?; how did our people get away with driving cars with the lights on and noisy motorcycles but not be found?
Making us wait an entire years for another eight or so episodes is a series killer. This series needs 13-26 episodes and less of a lag between airings.

The 10 episode run was a trial run. We will get a full season next time.

I'm playing a little catchup tonight after being out of town for a while. I've been pretty sure for a while about my subservient alien species theory and finally got the confirmation. No thanks for the tickets.
However, I never saw the the harnessed kids become skitters coming. Brilliant work, MTKapp! It'll be a few days until I watch the season finale so I'll wait to read the rest of this thread then (I'm on page 4, btw).

You're right, it was nearly like Scanners in my house tonight.
My wife is beside herself that Noah Wylie got on board that ship since they had just proved to him earlier that day that they were untrustworthy (abandoning Rick).
All-in-all, it's entertaining and I like it. Some of you bring up good points that also bother me, namely the inability of the aliens to find their large groups and wipe them out. These aren't terrorists blending into a population, every human is a target. The only thing i can think of is that finding more humans to turn into slaves/skitters is one of their primary reasons for being there so they are at the point now where they don't want to indiscriminantly wipe out any groups they find. In fact allowing small groups to live and reproduce just might be their plan.
One other problem I have is the distinction between civilians and fighters. In those circumstances I would expect every relatively able-bodied adult to be a fighter. There are plenty of fathers in that civilian group that should be armed. In fact, you'd expect it be a militia situation where there may be a group of fulltime soldiers but in times of crisis every adult is armed and is expected to fight. Instead of assigning fighters to guard the civilians, the militia (i.e. parents) ought to have that job while the rest go into combat operations.
Anyway, enjoyed it this season and am likewise amazed at the level of interest in this thread. Glad to have some entertainment lined up for next summer once the college seasons end.

The only reason I could see him going with them is for answers. They have shown that they can be pretty passive in some respects; the kids, the informers, not locating and wiping them out etc. But overall it doesn't make a lot of sense yet. Just like I agree with you; when the crap hits the fan how can you have adults not fighting.

I sort of wonder if they stopped viewing humanity as a threat. They had wiped out every command unit easily once they found out where they were. I wonder if they dont have a great ability to track, or it they have perhaps thought that humanity would give up.
Remember the theme of the series has been the revouationary war, in which America won based on essentially really surprising a superior force for so long that everyone jumped in to fight.
However I dont know if I should discuss theories with 10 months before our next episodes

Finding people on the ground isn't as easy as you might think, especially if you don't know what direction they headed in. I do think that children playing outside etc is far fetched but it is just TV.

How difficult could it be for a race that traveled light years to get here to track hundreds of people in tight groups - people who drive old cars and trucks, loud motocycles and even use their headlights at night?!
Our current military technology could track and eliminate them.
