The Hoop in Hot Springs
http://www.ualrtrojans.com/fls/7400/virt...EM_ID=7400

It has been a few days now since “The hoop in Hot Springs” by Bozeman. I told another fan that I remembered Justin Love and “The Miracle Memphis” for SLU about ten years ago. SLU was a team that had underperformed in the regular season but won 4 in 4 days to get a NCAA berth.

I hoped that Bozeman would load our team on his shoulders and he did with some help from our bigs. No player can do it along but one player has to be the catalyst, the go to guy and Solo was that over the four day fantasy in Hot Springs.

We, as a fan base have long suffered and this will go down a special year. One that the fan base got to share with this bunch of kids that has endured some really tough times but never lost heart or hope.

I am not through with the season. I am hoping for the playin game and another win. What happens after that is gravy but I want the players to stand in that tunnel in Tulsa after a win on Tuesday and have the feeling of belief when no one outside the coaching staff believes they can shock the world and win as a 16 vs 1 seed. Know that UALR plays defense and we can shoot the 3 which gives us a punchers chance against anyone. I want everyone that is returning next year to think about the feeling of this journey and do what it takes to make our way back here again in their life time as a player not just in my life time.

RE: The Hoop in Hot Springs
Prior to our winning the tournament, I had thought that next year's team might have the components to have a better team than this year.
Especially if we can sign a couple more good players who can step in and contribute immediately, and according to Jeff Slatton, this win puts us in a position to possibly sign some players we didn't have a chance of signing before. So with the experience our returnees from this team will have in playing in the NCAA, plus good new talent, maybe the future is starting to look a lot brighter for our Trojans.

Great shot at the end of The Shields Scowl yelling "Get over here" to keep the players off the court. Classic.

I think it's great that Solo made that winning shot, but just think about this. If D'Andre doesn't get the steal, the games over. If Matt doesn't make the three, the games over. And if you want to go back further, if Gus doesn't score his 10 points, the games over. It was a team effort.

And if Solo gets called for an illegal screen when he decked Matt's defender, the games over.

You have to get a few breaks to win, and this year, we did.

No question. We played hard, made crucial plays and had a little good luck to go along with it. It generally takes some of that which we have been sadly lacking for many years.

Solo now has the number one play in UALR history. Nothing even close. Prior to "The Shot", I'd have to give it to Derrick Creighton's tip-in at the buzzer in Starkville.

In retrospect, Derrick's shot wasn't close to Solo's because of what was at stake. If his shot had been in the SBC or NCAA tournament, it would have been, but Solo's was tops because of what it meant. Unforgettable!

On the surface, I can't disagree with you, but maybe the number one play was D'Andre stealing the ball from Josh White and that led to the series of events that won the game. Obviously Solo's shot topped it off, but without D'Andre's steal, we'd have gone home broken hearted instead of the "Mean Green".04-cheers

I have no clue, when or how that post got on there. I was no where near a computer at that time. Maybe I somehow accidently posted on my phone, but don't know how that would have happened.
