Rivals has Hurley as a Soft Verbal and Marlow as a Solid Verbal.
Maybe Hurley is still in play, looks like he took a visit to Ball State but not an official one to NIU yet. Maybe he's one of those coming this weekend.

He says Iowa and Minnesota are also looking at him but he wouldn't reconsider until they offer him. Doesn't mention NIU except that he has an offer from us.
Bryce Jones, dual-threat quarterback, from Cleveland Heights, Ohio lists NIU in his top 3 favorites, along with Air Force and Boston College. Of the three, he only has an offer from Air Force.

With 3 QBs on scholarship now, one more as a walk on and another 2 committed I am not sure if we can afford a 6th scholarship for a QB.

How many did we have last year?
Doubt he would stay at qb. His is a little guy. Db or slot receiver. Most hs teams best atheletes are qbs. Many players on nius team played qb ih hs
Quote:Vero Beach (Fla.) standout Charles Ivory had an impressive senior season. “On the season, I have 60 plus tackles, 3 interceptions, a forced fumble and 8 pass-deflections.”
He has been talking to a few colleges, but is looking to stay closer to home. “I have been talking to Northern Illinois, Minnesota and Jacksonville University. I like the University of Miami, Florida Gators and Florida State. All of the big Florida schools. Those are three great colleges along with UCF and USF.”
Quote:The very athletic cornerback runs a “4.4” in the forty and a “4.03” in the shuttle. He also has the size of a bigger corner at 6’1 and 175.
At the next level, he is looking for good academics and location.
“I think the primary thing has to have academics. Then, location plays a big part. I don’t have family outside of Florida. I am always looking for a football school with a great tradition.”

if those numbers and size are correct, I'm surprised he doesn't have interest from at least a Central Florida or USF yet. Doesn't seem like he wants to come this far north.

According to Rivals he isn't getting interest from the 3 "Big" Florida schools but is getting looked at by USF, FIU, and UCF. Also according to Rivals, NIU is his only offer.
It does seem he'd like to stay close to home. Chances are if the "Big 3" don't look his way, NIU would still be behind those other 3. But even at #7, if NIU is the only offer, let's hope he takes a scholarship over a walk-on situation.
It would be nice to grab both Charles Ivory and teammate Charlie Miller. Both made official visits to NIU on 12/16/2011 and both have offers in hand. Hopefully they are friends that want to go to college together.

Pehaps when we are in Mobile our coaches will take a drive over to Florida.
What's the NCAA policy with regard to a bowl game after the blackout period? Can we just invite them to the game, or can the athletic dept hook up the family with tickets like with a regular home game?

No they don't. I saw a couple Memphis games this season and they had 5k fans at most.
Any attendance stat you come back with saying Memphis averaged more than us this season is bull. They would be clearly over reporting just like many other schools have been doing.

Unfortunately we also cooked the books because the Soldier Field game is included in our average. So without the SF game it is... (17k, 14k, 14k, 20k, 12k, 13k =15k).

2011 Memphis average 20k
vs Miss St 33k
vs Austin Peay 18k
vs SMU 16k
vs ECU 17k
vs UAB 17k (I will agree that there is likely some over reporting here)
vs Marshall 15k (I will agree that there is likely some over reporting here)
