RE: 2012 Recruiting Thread
For all those concerned about stars, Anthony Castanzo had no offers out of Lake Zurich and just went to Indy, to possibly replace Diem.

In retrospect kind of surprised Joe didn't offer him. We were oviously scouting LZ because we got Skarb the same year.

"Castanzo hails from Illinois and graduated from Lake Zurich High School last year with no D1A interest.
"None," he said. "No one came around or even asked about me. It was odd because I thought I was a D-1 player and I told my coach so. He said to think about D-2 or D-3 but I wasn't going to settle for that. I went to a summer camp at North Carolina and coach John Shuman from Fork Union noticed me. He said I was a 'tweener at the time but that I'd be a blue-chip prospect by the end of my time at Fork Union. I liked what he was saying.""

Hhe also has a 3.5 GPA and BC nominated him for a Rhodes Scholar. Impressive.

Jacob Bailey is the only one we would have a real chance with based on the offers to the players listed. BCS are in on the others. Won't win that battle

We need at least 2 QB's to be recruited this year due to graduations and position movements. I would like to hear more about that position than I have so far.

Agreed, I hope we are not spending to much resource$ on guys that have more than a handful of BCS offers. I don't know if Doeren thinks that NIU is a destination for these guys or if we just need to puff our chest out and look like we can recruit against teams like Alabama, FSU or Nebraska.

I think these may have been guys that Doeren and Canada had on their list as prospects from last year and they are just hoping that the guy will follow the coach that was recruiting him rather than the team.

Granted if he can somehow bring in one guy like that every year or two then I will gladly have egg on my face and 04-bow.

..Prefer a top JUCO QB as one of the -2-, not a fill in JC.

This KS LB should get serious consideration for an offer. Nearly 100 tackles, 22 TFL's

I believe our 2nd offer out to a California kid. One of the coaches must have a pipeline out there. I like to see it.

California is a waste of time unless someone has JC connections.
