RE: payouts for conference championship games?
Hoquista Wrote:The average estimated payout per FB school under the NEW FB and BB contracts (including estimated NCAA tourney revenues, bowls, etc) will be between $7 and $7.5 million. The BE does not distribute money equally.
This is correct. This places the average league payout about $1 million behind the B12 and the Pac-10. However the league will still be significantly behind the ACC on average by about $4 million per team.
However, with successful conference TV networks, the ACC, which used to be equal to both the Big Ten and the SEC in terms of conference payouts will soon find itself over $5 million per team on average behind both of those leagues.
Under the old paradigm, the difference between the 5 super-conferences has been about $3 million per team on average from the top conference to the bottom conference. Soon it will be a difference of $8 million per team or more.
Now, not only is the difference between the haves and have nots increasing but the difference between the haves is also now increasing under the new paradigm. Which is why, imho, conference realignment is not done.
The next five years is going to be very interesting.
Cheers,
Neil

To include Texas Tech, South Carolina and Boston College in that group is almost laughable.
BTW no self-respecting WVU fan would include VaTech in that group either.

All of those programs are significantly better than those teams mentioned for Big East expansion. Maybe you should lobby for the Cards to return to C-USA if you like those schools so much.
That's not the point and you know it. You, as usual, use whatever means to diss the Big East Conference. I say you should tread lightly or you won't be around much longer. The mods here have given you more lee-way than any poser that we have seen here in the past except perhaps your other moniker, TST.

Reading comprehension is obviously a problem for you but with help, I think you can improve. If I'm bashing anyone, it's a bunch of midmajor programs that you think would be good additions. Plus point to where I've bashed the Big East.

As Jose was kind enough to rightfully point out. "Michael, dial down the Louisville/CUSA smack."
It's your general attitude toward the Big East that needs to be adjusted. You forget where you are and who is reading your posts. If you want to be negative about the Big East all the time perhaps you should find another board to do so.
Looking back through your posts I have found zero that are complimentary of anything about the Big East or WVU that you claim to be a fan of. It's one thing to be objective and play Devil's advocate and quite another to post thinly veiled flames.

Michael, I could care less if you slam C-USA. This is a BE board, after all.
But, every time you butt heads with Jim, it seems there is always a slam of UL in there somewhere. It's always "after UL's season, you shouldn't talk...", "Utah just scored again...", "Maybe UL ought to re-join C-USA..."
And Jim, I think Michael has done enough to prove he's not an ACC fan. He has filled in WVU for his "I root for..." tag upon my request. He just happens to have a differing opinion than most. I don't know why he wastes so much energy defending the ACC, with esayem and xlance constantly posting here, but whatever gets him through the day...
Why don't both of you try to get along?

CyberBull Wrote:MAC $100,000 $8,333/team..............the MAC game is essentially a paid advertisement for the league, b/c there is no way they make money with this game
CUSA $1,000,000 $83,333/team....similar to the MAC; It probably costs more to turn on the lights the $83K each team nets
ACC $5,700,000 $475,000/team.....not exactly chump change, but not exactly the big bucks the ACC thought it would get as compared to the SEC
Big 12 $9,000,000 $750,000/team....not bad $$$, but the championship game has hurt this league more than it has helped
SEC $13,200,000 $1,100,000/team.....WOW and why Mike Slive (and formerly Roy Kramer) gets paid the big bucks!
It isn't an equal revenue share for one thing with the championship game. We received over $400K for hosting the game in 2005 and I'm not sure what we got in 2007. The $1 million is probably just the T.V money. The ticket revenue alone from 2007 game was $2 million for the C-USA.

Jose,
Thanks for the heads up. I will do just that.
