ASun Divisions
Anyone figured out what the divisions are explicitly yet?
Also, how do you think is going to work out not having to double up on every team. Obviously it's going to favor the stronger teams in the weaker division.

RE: ASun Divisions
NORTH
Belmont
Lipscomb
ETSU
USC Upstate
Gardner-Webb
Campbell
SOUTH
Kennesaw State
Mercer
JU
UNF
Stetson
FGCU
Since 3 schools in the South aren't eligible for the tournament yet, I'm sure the standings will have all 12 teams in one bunch...at least that's the way it should be. I'd expect JU, Mercer, and KSU to have a little boost in the standings after beating up on the others in the South. A South team might finish in first place due to this arrangement if the North is more balanced.

Divisions are just for schedules and not for tournament seeding

RE: ASun Divisions
Hrm, this is interesting to me. Haven't known the ASun with divisions before (shows how new we are). Great for us, tougher for the top 3 listed on the north schedule as far as basketball is concerned. As far as the other sports are concerned, last years top 3 ended (ranked 1-3, regular season):
Soccer: Stetson, GW, Campbell ..............Advantage North
WSoccer: Kennesaw, Stetson, UNF..........Strong South
Volleyball: ETSU, Belmont, UNF................Advantage North
Basketball: ETSU, Belmont, Jacksonville.....Advantage North
WBasketball: Belmont, Jacksonville, ETSU..Advantage North
Baseball: Stetson, Mercer, Belmont..........Advantage South
Softball: Kennesaw, Stetson, GW, ETSU...Small Advantage South (GW/ETSU split by half game)
Alright, since this was very scientific taking into consideration returning players, quality of programs and strength of schedule... ha... and not using it all. The teams look a little bit more even than it looks as far as all the programs are concerned.

RE: ASun Divisions
Probably meaningless, but here's last year's 10 teams' records vs. next year's "intra-divisional" opponents. First column number was last year's actual order of finish, last column shows whether this helps (+) or hurts (-) teams:
1. ETSU 7-1 EVEN
3. Jacksonville 6-2 +
4. Lipscomb 5-3 +
5. Kennesaw State 5-3 +
6. Mercer 5-3 +
2. Belmont 4-4 -
9. Stetson 4-4 +
7. Campbell 2-6 -
8. Gardner-Webb 2-6 -
10. UNF 0-8 EVEN
Three North teams dropped in order and four South teams climbed. (Check out how Belmont dropped and Stetson climbed with this format!)
Again, might not mean anything but on the other hand....
IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHO GOES WHERE IN "INTER-DIVISIONAL" GAMES!! Then we can see next year a little more clearly.

Nic,
It is not going to be for all the sports, just basketball (and maybe baseball)

Goldifnger -- We beat that dead horse before you got here. I don't think I have it in me anymore to discuss it! I'll just leave you with one thing.... Baseball has had multiple bids for a long string of years. I forget how many.

I don't care how many baseball teams get into the NCAA...It's college baseball! It nor any of the other sports, minus basketball, have an ounce of glory in them.

Well Gold, not to leak the smack over here but Football is the only sport. Basketball plays second fiddle every single time.

The last and (I believe) the only time the A-Sun/TAAC was in a divisional format.
Couldn't find any archives this old on the A-Sun site, but found some old CNN-SI stuff.

I don't have a link, but back in the C of C days the A-Sun (TAAC) was in divisions.
Thanks for that link though, brought back memories of a good season & year.

Odoms and Emerson was a real one-two punch. There were so many good teams in the A-Sun, yet the conference was greatly underrated.

GaSt -- You're right about there being a lot of good teams that year. Troy used to shoot the lights out from the 3 point arc.

Alright, I'll say it. Cause you don't know what you're talking about Gold.
