Galo Jay,

I just tried to report my own post. If it upsets you that much I certainly don''t want to do that. (The report feature did not work however) I have been posting like a maniac to try and give people a reason to post here. I don't care what facility you like and I don't care what anybody thinks of the other institutions in the state(except EKU, if don't realize they stink you need help) I have simply been trying to give people a reason to come here. Some of the stuff I have taken from Haven simply because many WKU fans can't post there.

This is the last time I will say this Galo, I apologize, I disagree and this kind of "don't post things I don't like" attitude is why so many criticize restricted boards whether thats fair or not. I consider this matter closed and wish that I had never posted this silly thing, however I welcome you to discuss this in private with me further if you wish.

Oh and that "true colors" comment hurt, nobody is a bigger Topper fan than me.

Why don't you guys talk about the baseball recruit WKU just lost to Murray State? heh heh :)

Murray St. looks best to North's Calhoun

By GORDON ENGELHARDT Courier & Press staff writer 464-7518 or gordone@evansville.net
July 1, 2005

After he was accidentally struck in the eye by a plastic BB last summer, Daniel Calhoun was ordered to stay in bed for a couple of weeks. His baseball career was put on hold.

However, he progressed so much this spring that he not only helped lead North High School to a second-place finish in Indiana's Class 4A state tournament, he also landed a scholarship to Murray State University.

"Daniel has greatly improved during the high-school season and at the beginning of this summer," said Eugene Pate American Legion manager Ben Garland. "He worked hard in the off-season on his mechanics. He can throw three pitches for strikes and his fastball has been clocked at 87 mph."

After an eye specialist told him to rest in bed for a couple of weeks, Calhoun gradually rounded back into form.

"I stuck with it and kept pitching and that's where I am right now," he said.

Calhoun, a 6-foot-2 lefthander, had a 6-0 record with a 2.51 earned-run average for the Huskies. He struck out 74 while walking 29 and allowing 31 hits in 53 innings. North ended 24-7 and was runner-up at state for the second time in four seasons.

"Daniel had an eye injury and due to restrictions placed on him (by doctors) he basically missed all of last summer," Garland said. "He developed in the spring and he's a late bloomer. He worked a lot with (former UE pitching) coach (Scott) Lawler at his pitching camp last winter."

Lawler has left UE to join his uncle, Jim Lawler, who has been named the new head coach at Arkansas-Little Rock. Lawler's successor at UE is expected to be officially named next week.

"My mechanics weren't together and he helped me out," Calhoun said.

In addition to Murray State, he also made official visits to UE and Western Kentucky and made an unofficial visit to Purdue.

"I heard a lot of good stuff about Murray," he said. "They have good coaching and good players. My buddy, Tyler Owen, is going there and we're going to room together."

Owen, who played third base for the Huskies, also signed with Murray State.

Calhoun, who plays outfield when he doesn't pitch, batted .398 with one home run and 20 runs batted in.

Yeah, you're right. UK threads are more appropriate (and common) on Murray's board :)

The UK folks get blasted for promoting their ****** cats on that board. Dig through some of posts regarding Casey Johnson and you'll see him and others getting ripped left and right.

You can't swing a dead cat without talking about the schools to the north. They are natural targets. I think the occasional cat and bird bashing is okay....IMHO.
