Rice getting inflatable practice facility - Ourland - 02-21-2019 01:28 PM

Rice announced two days ago that it will be erecting an inflatable practice "bubble" on the west side of Rice Stadium. The total cost will be $3 million, and should be ready by August. It's exactly like all the other inflatable practice facilities being used by NFL teams and universities around the country. Exciting news for us...

The Miami Dolphins have an inflatable dome...I was going to mention it to FAU's AD next time I saw him. Pretty cost effective approach. The Dolphins have had it I would say at least 10 years. There is doubt as to whether or not it contributes to wins since the Dolphins are pretty horrible over the last 18 years.

Texans have had one for 16 years. That’s the one we normally use but the team has to bus 3 miles down the road.

Wouldn't surprise me if we get it after they build their new permanent practice facility.

When is Rice going to get a football Rimshot

After seeing the neighborhood surrounding the football stadium, this doesn't fit in.

So the Texans paid 3mil in 2002 and y'all are paying 3mil for a new one now. You don't see that every day. I would have thought the price would have gone way up.

We's so po' we could only afford a couple of inflatable dolls to pass out between team members

RE: Rice getting inflatable practice facility - NorthTexan95 - 02-22-2019 12:11 PM

I like the fact that when they don't need it, it can be deflated and then quickly aired up again when needed.

Sort of an "Instant Rice" facility.

(I can't take credit for this gold. GreenJoe on our GMG board said it.)
