Did you see the American article Sunday about Bower's (lack of) contract extension? Giannini says they have an agreement and it's in the lawyers' hands. Bower says there's no agreement. It sounds like touchy situation. It's hard to imagine, but supposedly this could be Bower's last year at USM. I'll believe it when I see it. I hope they sign him back up because I think a change would hurt far more than it helps. Going 8-0 in C-USA last year after the start we had earned him an extension and illustrated greater potential.

Are YOU the same RockTheRock who is always saying on the other USM boards that Bower is a loser who can't take us to the "next level" and we need to go out and find someone else who can?

No, I never said Bower was a loser. I said he needs to start winning more of the big OOC games. I've always the best thing that can happen to the program is for Bower to take it up a notch and be more successful.

BTW, my opinion was different after the Bama game last year. At that point, I thought he couldn't recover from losing to them, Cal and Nebraska in the way they did. But he did some of his best coaching to turn that team around.

Let it go RTR.

You and I both know that if anyone at anytime is EVER critical of Bower then they are a Bower Basher and want nothing more than for Bower to be fired.

You want him to win more OCC games...I want him to recruit better and make nice with HS coaches...that all translates into: Bower sucks and should be run out on a rail.

No matter what we really say and/or believe.

You're right. That's one of the reasons I've quit posting on ET. I won't go back. You should quit too.

Peer pressure is very bad..mmmmkay.

I wish Bower would win more OOC conference games as well, but if I had to choose...I would rather lose to Nebraska and win the conference.

I do agree that Bower's eagles need to win more OOC games and crank up the recruiting, but he is still a good coach.(Which I realize that both you and 3rdWard said)

This is a bad situation. I hope Giannini doesn't pull a Nebraska and give Bower the boot after JUST a bowl season(meaning no conf. championship)

Southern Miss would be foolish to let Bower go. Everyone knows that. Whatever he's been doing there concerning recruiting or anything else obviously seems to be working.

- RockTheRock - 07-19-2004 06:06 PM

Right now, and it's hard to put a gauge on it, but there is a real possibliity that Bower will not be coach in 2005. It's a fluid situation.

It wouldnt be the worst thing if Bower left.

i agree if they let bower go then usm sucks, yes i wish the ooc games would go better, but hes done more for usm than any coach that i can remeber
