Everyone jumping ship from Pitt. Did we have any connection with their current or prospective players?

RE: Grad transfers - Marcus - 03-16-2018 12:44 PM

Marcus Carr maybe? Are they looking for a SG though with the final scholarship? It seems like we'd need another big that can score.

I don't know anything about their roster, but Ryan Luther is going to be a 5th-year senior, which means he is probably graduating and may be eligible immediately. 6-9 225 lbs. and averages about 13 pts/10 reb.

RE: Grad transfers - EffinBJ - 03-16-2018 03:25 PM

I'm not sure grad transfers would work well at UC - it basically takes two year transfers their whole year off and half their first season to figure out what Mick expects. Unless the guy comes from West Va or Buffalo I'm not sure they'd fit in.

RE: Grad transfers - skyblade - 03-16-2018 03:52 PM

I'm guessing Mick is looking primarily for a PG. Broome/Jenifer are both seniors next year and I'd guess Cronin wants the new PG/back-up PG to be at least sophomores when Broome/Jenifer graduate. Cronin seems to prefer playing guys who have already been here for a year. I think he has already penciled Brooks in as a starter and he's not likely to look for a big to start in front of Brooks. If Evans leaves he will probably be looking for another Guard/Forward type in the mold of Evans/Cumberland/Moore/Williams as well.

We offered Carr, but he would have to sit out a year.

Logan Johnson is already signed

This kid would be a good addition. Pitt lost another one today. They have nobody...lol

RE: Grad transfers - jarr - 03-17-2018 07:25 PM

We need either a big who can score or a shooting SG.

They're more decimated than UC when Mick took over.

Yea, at least we had Ron Allen and Cedric McGowan and Barwin if we can count him.

I want the scoring big. Shooting guards are a dime a dozen. A high percentage shooting big are hard to come by.

Yea, a scoring big with post moves would be nice. I see mid major teams with guys like this all the time so they are not impossible to find. If it was a SG, it would need to be a dead eye shooting specialist like Field William's. We dont really need any more Keith William's mold SGs.

Nevada is on every list for every major transfer and getting there fair share. They just made the top 5 for Sacha Kileya Jones and Joe Cremo as well. Must be that major conference advantage they have.
