WTG Owls! RE: Rice Golf @ ORU Invitational in Dallas - flash3200 - 03-12-2018 10:29 PM 5 shots clear after day 1. Looking at the rankings from http://www.golfstat.com/2016-2017/rankhth.cfm, we are one of the top ranked teams in the field, so we should do well. UNT is ranked a bit higher than us, and is lurking in 2nd place. Winning a tournament would be huge for this team...not sure the last time that has happened. RE: Rice Golf @ ORU Invitational in Dallas - Fort Bend Owl - 03-13-2018 06:29 PM Still in 1st heading into tomorrow's final round. A little higher team score today but we're 3 up on UNT in 2nd place. Also, the two seniors (Carmona and Meissner) are tied for the individual lead. RE: Rice Golf @ ORU Invitational in Dallas - Fort Bend Owl - 03-15-2018 07:10 AM They finished a close 2nd to North Texas unfortunately. Carmona was the individual champion and Meissner was tied for 4th. Carmona might be the most successful male athlete we have on campus. RE: Rice Golf @ ORU Invitational in Dallas - ExcitedOwl18 - 03-15-2018 08:13 AM Scott Filip, despite his recent slip up at the indoor championships, takes that crown. Good to see the golf team do well. Last year, according to the Rice article on this Oral Roberts tourney: This week's 2nd place result "is Rice’s best finish since winning the Jim West Intercollegiate last year." Here are links to the articles on last year's win: > Rice leads heading into the final round: http://www.riceowls.com/sports/m-golf/recaps/041017aab.html > Final round washed out; Owls win: http://www.riceowls.com/sports/m-golf/recaps/041117aaa.html Coincidentally, Rice would have won this week if the final round had been rained out. RE: Rice Golf @ ORU Invitational in Dallas - flash3200 - 03-15-2018 12:44 PM Ha! Good one. Too bad they couldn't hang on. It's a close contest but let's see if Carmona qualifies individually for the NCAA Championships before we crown the winner for 2017-18. Doesn't include this latest event. He could be the leading edge of Mexican golfers. |
