So your answer to the question is no?

If someone answers like that, you can assume they have done nothing but complain on this message board.

I haven’t. I believe the guys calling the shots know more about the hiring/firing process of a college basketball coach than I do.

You can write to them all you want. Unless you are a big donor and threaten to stop the cash flow, then it'll fall on deaf ears. And even if you are one of those people, it would take all the rest of the big donors to share you sentiments.

When was the last time a school fired a 20-win coach for performance? It doesn't look like it happened last season.

Ben Howland won 25 the year he was fired from UCLA. Bob Huggins won 25 when Cincy fired him. Stan Heath won 20 when Arkansas fired him.

True, but it's also a huge anomaly (apparently Howland's firing was the first time a power conference team fired a coach after a season in which they won the conference title). They also had some recruiting issues that probably helped speed up his exit. Huggins had a preseason DUI which probably sealed his fate. Heath thinks he got canned for ticket sales, which is I guess possible but admittedly that's an odd justification.

The larger point, I think, still stands: Generally, 20-win coaches don't get turfed unless a) they step in it off-court, or b) they undershot big-but-reasonable expectations (UCLA expects Final Fours as a matter of course).

No, I have wasted my time in the past, and it's just that, a waste of time. But please, great activists of our time, feel free to fill that inbox and come back here and let us all know how you've done your part

I tell all my employees, "If you have a problem, bring it to someone who can help. Don't gossip. Be part of the solution, or shut up."

It's more of a life lesson for everyone. But I see you've got this whole "life" thing down already.

Yep. The entire swamp needs to be drained. Jones is the least of my concerns. He is the best we'll do until we get better leadership.

Seriously, Jones is not getting fired. We're having a good season, and will probably go to the NIT. If that happens he's earned more time. Especially so seeing he's stepped up his recruiting so the future looks promising. If we tank next season, or go another 2 years without an NCAA I'll be on board. I agree with you all that he cant seem to win the "big games", but the only real choke this whole season has been W&M. Even though VCU sucks, records don't matter when we play and it was at their place. Try to enjoy this season, its been a good one overall.

I have not. I do however email on occasion to express my opinion about things. I always get a very courteous nothingburger response.

Some seem to think only the fat cats get heard. I'm not so sure. If enough empty seats at either the Ted or FF start to show up, somebody will go. A few fat cats or a lot of small cats. It all adds up.

I was not a fan of the JJ hire but was not completely disappointed especially when he brought Bryant Stith on board.

I am not disappointed wiht the X's and O's as some on here on. I have seen JJ open up the offense a bit more now that he has some better offensive players.

A clinic was put on last Saturday. My gut tells me that is not an X's and O's thing as much as it was the quality of the players. Granted, I do think we just didn't want it as much but that is not a regular occurrence out of ODU players so I will accept that as an anomaly.

This leads me to believe it is just a recruiting issue. We have seen some definite improvement in this area. Could it be better? Yes and frankly that is where we can help the most... We can all be more vocal at the games, encourage those around us to, make it a maniacal atmosphere when recruits come to the Ted. Writing silly customer complaints to the AD with no financial backing is really only useful for your own venting. If you feel better after doing it, write on my friend.

JJ's not being fired and I don't think he deserves to be either. Would I love for us to be a consistent Top 50 program? Yes, this year and for the past 33 years of being a fan. But I also realize how hard it must be to create a team like that year in and year out as a mid major. I would sincerely like to see what he can do over the next year or so...

I’m a fan of JJ. I have been critical at times, but for good reason. My only gripe is that we always seem to lose the big games. Although for the most part we are in them until the end. But what I cannot understand is how some of you are satisfied with the NIT.

RE: How many here have written to Broderick or Selig re firing Jones? - Gilesfan - 03-01-2018 05:40 PM

The problem is certain fans will never be happy. Whatever the level we reach, there will be something higher they want that the current coach cannot do. If we happen to get to the tourney, it will be “he cant win a tourney game.” If we do that, it will be “we cant consistently get to tourney”

Look at the comments when Blaine was a coach and we were top 50?

Remember the whining over the offense? Recruiting?
