Unbelievable, just how racist and tone deaf can these people be? It’s offensive, racist, and downright disrespectful. Whoever posted this should lose their job. We have to do better for our African-American brothers and sisters. We owe them so much.

BOSTON -- The Boston Police Department is facing heavy criticism online for a now-deleted Twitter post for Black History Month that celebrated a white man.

The original post on the department's official Twitter account Sunday was in honor of former Boston Celtics coach Red Auerbach. The department tweeted that it was paying tribute to Auerbach for being the first NBA coach to draft a black player, start five African-American players, and hire the NBA's first African-American head coach.


This is an excerpt from the article. It sounds like Auerbach did a lot for African Americans in helping them break the color barrier in the NBA.

If what went on with Red AUuerbachs tenure/career wasn’t historical,then what would one call it?

And a VERY big part of Black history and the league itself, now overwhelmingly black.

Fail to see any problem here. ESPN now sucks. Shame.

Are the Boston PD claiming Red Auerbach was inherently superior to the black players?

Why would he then stoop to drafting the first player and starting 5 players?
