OT: Who would win? - NeptunianEmp - 02-10-2018 06:55 PM

Who would win between ULL and NMSU in basketball on a neutral court?
Both teams have a similar record ULL 20-4 and NMSU 21-3.
Defense: ULL 69.7 Points allowed (114th) NMSU 61.3 Points allowed (4th)
Rebounds: ULL 38.8 (40th) NMSU 40.5 (10th)
Offense : ULL 84.0 (19th) NMSU 74.5 (161st)
Assists: ULL 18.3 (6th) NMSU 14.0 (153rd)
Bad Loss: ULL, Ole Miss. NMSU, San Diego St.

I would give a slight edge to NMSU since they have a quality win over 6/7 Miami at the time and quality losses from then #21 St. Mary's and USC.

ULL has an impressive resume but not as strong of an OOC schedule.

The Sun Belt is arguably stronger than the WAC so it would be a close game. I would say within 5 points.

Figure this would be interesting if any of the Sun Belt teams decide to use the old football association to play some basketball with NMSU.

Obviously NMSU would win since there is no ULL.

I don't think he was trying to pick a fight. The proper response would probably be " Since Louisiana has Bo Lamar and Andrew Toney I don't think you would have chance." See how easy that is.

Not at all. Just using the name for football. Would love to see them verses Zach Loften and Jamerio Jones.

Might be lucky enough to face each other in the NCAA tournament.

I think it would be a great game. I would love to play NMSU every year. They always field a good team.

NMSU would be a slight favorite on a neutral court.

I agree with this.

ULL, Lafayette, same thing.

Wrong. There is a Lafayette College. There is no University of Lafayette and no ULL.

Stop with the name crap and stick to the subject.

I don't know who would win. But I do know this.

Given the long relationship (they were in the SBC 13 years ago), it's a dame shame they aren't playing a home and home.

I agree with that. It's a shame they aren't in the conference. Oh the name stuff too.

Just having NMSU in our conference would raise our conference RPI ranking significantly.

As of right now, according to the NCAA RPI ranking Louisiana is 50 and NMSU is 48. NMSU was on the cusp of being ranked in the Top 25 this week (#26). That would certainly raise conference RPI. It would also make the conference more interesting.

I obviously don't care either way, but I'd love to see New Mexico St in the Sun Belt. The Sun Belt is becoming an AWESOME conference. IMO they are easily above the MAC and, top-to-bottom, maybe above CUSA.

Not in basketball; but having NMSU would really help in that.

Should’ve specified. Overall, the Sun Belt is an up-and-coming conference compared established leagues.
