South Alabama game - MICHAELSPAPPY - 02-08-2018 11:40 AM

Sagarin picks USA by 6.
RealtimeRPI picks them by 10.
Sounds about right, all things considered.

I don't know who will start in place of Andre, but my guess is Reedus, with Corcoran as a possibility.

They are not a particularly good shooting team, but their defense is very solid. Rodrick Sikes is their gunner, averaging 18.3 ppg and shooting 37% from the arc.

They shoot from the arc on 43% of their attempts, so they live and die by the 3. So far they have mostly died with it, since they only hit 32.4% of them. The main feature of their offense is Sikes shooting 3s. However, they also shut down their opponents to the tune of only 30.7% from the arc.

We are at women’s game now with thousands of screaming kids. Trojans ahead 16-4 after 1 quarter

I've been to one of those games where a daytime weekday tipoff is done to let the local elementary schools bring their kids to a game. We had to leave as we couldn't take the shrill screaming generated by that many young kids! Hope your ears fare better!

However, I am pleased to see that South Alabama allows it's internet feed of games to be accessed for free. To me, it's what should be done at our level. ULL also does this. The amount of revenue lost would be more than offset in the long run by the interest it might generate. Most people would rather be at a live game if possible, but they have to be interested enough in the team to go. Allowing more access to the internet feed could help fuel that interest.

Thank goodness we built a 5600 seat arena, unlike USA's 10K+ facility. Hard enough to fill 5000 seats these days. Not sure how many midmajors actually do.

Especially hard for a women's game.

How will the team react to Andre's dismissal? That will be interesting to see. No doubt Andre's athleticism got us some baskets we never would have gotten. On the other hand, he took too many shots considering his poor shooting percentage. Hopefully, those shots will be taken by guys who are better shooters. I think the team will react positively. But, USA is 9-2 at home, we are winless on the road. So our odds of winning don't appear very good regardless of whether Andre played or not. Of course, a win would do a lot for the team, which may have gotten even younger if Cocoran starts instead of Andre.

Looked for you guys behind the Trojan bench. Did USA stick the visitor's pass list with crappy tickets?

Figured I'd see the Landrums among the 75 or so people in the "crowd".

Well, it looked pretty similar to home crowds for the Trojans lately, so I didn't figure I'd have much trouble spotting them.

Nobody picked up on their scoring with Andre out. Boxscore looked the same scoring wise with the exception of Andre's points. Why did Bankston play only 18 minutes? He had 8 points, 2 fouls and 0 turnovers. Why did Wadley play only 3 minutes? Glad Marcus got extended minutes, but he didn't do anything with them, 6 points.

I also thought Bankston played well. I guess Cocoran replaced some of Andre's points. Without Andre the difference in athleticism between us and most other Belt teams is even more glaring.
