Well, we try not to. Only looking for 20 or so, so no need to stretch for a kid who is not likely to do well at Rice.

I cannot remember us ever recruiting a kid who had scrapes with the law before coming to us. Certainly some have had problems after enrolling here. (Heck, 55 years ago I was one of them.) Most of those end up moving on. I also cannot remember any kids getting in trouble twice, so maybe they just needed the proverbial second chance.

You can't keep up.

Yet Rice has not only had football players engage in sexual assault, but students have mocked it as well. Sexual assault is a real issue that shouldn't be dismissed, like you're trying to do with my education from a public university. But, I guess if you're able to attend Rice, you won't have to face criminal prosecution. If only some of our players could've gotten into such an elite institution...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've got to give you credit for the effort. To set the record straight, no one employed by, or affiliated with Rice University has ever hired topless dancers to perform at parties for recruits. And allegations are just that, allegations. The matter was investigated, but no charges were brought. I like that Rice kicked those players out of the university anyway. They must have deserved it in some way, even if it wasn't for rape. Their behavior was at the very least reckless and harmful enough to warrant dismissal.
As for mocking Baylor, they deserve every bit of what they get. Rape was reapetedly reported by female students, and it was reapetedly covered up and/or swept under the carpet by administration officials. Coacheswere involved, like Kendall Briles. He and his subordinates literally arranged the strip parties. Baylor's program should be shut down right now. They're lucky as hell that all they have to put up with is a bunch of quirky nerds giving them hell during a halftime show. At the time, I was upset that the MOB was forced to apologize by university officials, but in retrospect, it was the right thing to do. It was distasteful.
To your last point, I've mentioned here before that I'm sure FAU is a great school, and I mean that sincerely. It's not my place to say that any university is bad. Higher education is higher education in my book. More power to you. I attended both a public and private school. Both were good to me in their own right. Public schools don't need to be Rice, Stanford, or Yale-like. All I'd like to see is for this conference to adopt some recruiting standards that exceed the minimum set by the NCAA. We should demand more from ourselves. That's not asking too much.

Don’t care where we are ranked. We return nearly everyone and we’re recruiting needs. I am estatic about the guys we brought in. We plugged Obvious holes and strengthened both sides of the ball. We should be noticeably better.

Everyone go ahead and pencil us in as a W again. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Teams like UAB, UNT, MT, FAU, Marshall, LT all look to be strong this year and penciling in a win is true folly. Any of those teams could win it all this year or, as often happens in college football, slip up and lose some they shouldn't. But optimism should reign supreme at those schools for the coming football season with all they have returning.

You can sign more than 25 in a few scenarios. This article does a great job at breaking it down. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football-recruiting/2017/1/31/14348104/college-football-recruiting-class-limits-national-signing-day

You used to could sign more than 25 (with the excess gray shirting, blue shirting or JUCO placement for non-qualifiers). Houston Nutt signed 40 a few years ago at Ole Miss prompting the NCAA to change it. I think the BIG 10 already had a limit in place before the NCAA change. There are still some stipulations that allow it in certain situations.
