App leads the SoCon 2-0 after an impressive win at Gardner Webb last night. Overall the Mountaineers sit at 4-3 with loses to UNC, #6 NCST, and #20 Oklahoma. Next match is another SoCon match against Campbell.

I personally would support it so long as each school also added Women's Sand Volleyball.

App State To Host SoCon Wrestling Championships in 2019, 2020
BOONE, N.C. — The Southern Conference announced Thursday that Appalachian State has been named the host site for the SoCon Wrestling Championships in 2019 and 2020.
A vote of the league's wrestling members determined that the Holmes Convocation Center will hold the championships on March Sundays in 2019 (March 10) and 2020 (March 8)
App State will be joined by Campbell, Gardner-Webb, Davidson, Chattanooga, The Citadel and VMI next year, as SIU-Edwardsville is leaving the Southern Conference after this season. The league will again have eight teams in 2020 with the addition of Presbyterian.

It is sad that an ill effect of Title IX was the death of a ton of baseball and wrestling programs and other mens sports as much as it created opportunity for women. It killed our mens swimming, gymnastics and diving IIRC. You add an womens sport you dont have to add a mens but if you add a mens sport you have to add a womens unless you are one of the very few that have more women on scholarship than men...so the cost of a mens sport cost you twice as much.
