Oregon was a good win for us. They are beating a few teams, which is good. More importantly, we need to put up a banner as this could be Sendy's last year on our bench. We need to get our place at the table before a coaching turnover. We are 1-1 in the MAC with a big week in the conference.

Please explain "could be Sendy's last year on our bench"? I have no idea what you're talking about. "Banner" for what? Maybe your being facetious?

I could be wrong, but looking at how the MAC goes through coaches, Sendy could be on a radar elsewhere. Bringing a Power 5 Conference team into a lowly MAC gym is not easy. Plus Akron lost Dambrot with them winning less.

By "banner" I mean a championship. We always can use more of those.
Again, speculation. My hope is we win everything and Sendy loves us so much he will never leave.. but... you know...

Maybe so but I highly doubt it...Typically MAC head coaches only get offers from better leagues (certainly P5 conferences) when they accomplish something special...win an NCAA tourney game, take teams to multiple NCAA tournaments, get the team ranked in the top 25, etc). Sendy has not done these things.

Geno got paid to go to Bradley so I guess it's possible. With Geno, I think it was that NIT run he had and the fact that he was younger and to some schools was probably perceived as an "up and comer."

Dambrot's case is a little different. He has ties to Duquesne (believe his Dad played there) and his resume is longer and superior to Sendy's (Akron with 3 NCAA appearances and in the MAC Tourney Championship game damn near every year under Dambrot).

Don't get me wrong, I like Rob and think he's a good coach. I'd just be surprised if he's highly in demand (at least for teams in better leagues). He may find a team from a league on par with the MAC (level wise) but willing to pay more $. Saw that happen with Jim Larranega years ago when he left BG for George Mason (which at the time wasn't good, played in the Colonial but had aspirations and a budget to fund them).

Guess we'll see...

Sendy did interview at Duquesne last spring before Dambrot found out, freaked out and went scampering back to Pittsburgh to retroactively accept the job. So it's not as far-fetched as one might think. Plus with the budget restrictions and (still) lack of a practice gym, methinks Mr. S bolts for ANY offer that comes his way.

I don't think it's far fetched, just wrote that I'd be surprised...I'm sure Sendy would jump at almost any big pay check a basketball committed University would offer. I imagine that our ridiculously limited resources drive him crazy!

I just don't think that Rob has done that great of a job to warrant him being in high demand. Even with the NCAA appearance last Spring, I don't think the program is as good as it was when he took it over. Not saying it's all Rob's fault but IMO we are a shell of what we're 6-7 years ago...

Keep in mind that he carries some sampsonite baggage.

I imagine him getting a better offer would hinge on us finishing near the top of the MAC and possibly going to the NCAA tournament again. If all that happens then my guess is he only leaves for a really good offer. A marginal upgrade wouldn't make sense considering he'd have almost his entire relevant roster returning.

not sure Sendy was ever in play at Duquense. he may have talked but that's it. I heard it went down something like this. Dambrot turns down Dukes first time and goes back to Akron AD and tells him he's staying and here are my list of things we need to improve. (arena, $$,etc, etc.) Meathead AD tells dambrot win the big one (NCAA tourney game) and then we'll talk. Dambrot livid, goes off on AD and calls Duquense back and says he's all in if still interested.

Sendy, pick up your money and pack up your tent. You ain’t goin’ nowhere.
