OT: Snow Storm - ODUCoach - 01-03-2018 08:09 AM

I hope everyone stays safe the next couple of days. Looks like we'll get some measurable snow to go with our cold temperatures!

I'm guessing I'll see some of you at the beer store at lunch!

I know a lot of people follow wxrisk for updates. Has anyone tracked how well they actually predict these storms? Last I saw, they said we could get a foot.

Blizzard warning for Norfolk Portsmouth Chesapeake VB. Will schools be shut down for a week?!

RE: OT: Snow Storm - Monarchist13 - 01-03-2018 09:44 AM

The real good news is the whole state isn't getting hit, so VDOT should be able to bring in plows from other parts of the state. Plus temps forecasted in 50s on Monday.

Just hope the power stays on.

How the hell is that good news? You want to go to work/school?

I work for a hospital system. I don't have a choice. The clearer the roads, the better.

RE: OT: Snow Storm - MonGNARch - 01-03-2018 10:42 AM

Man, when I was at ODU, Fairfax got all the snow while Norfolk got all the rain. Now, (with the exception of the 3' of snow we got in one weekend a few years back) Norfolk seems to get all the snowy fun while Fairfax doesn't haha

RE: OT: Snow Storm - bit_9 - 01-03-2018 10:46 AM

Sucks. I have fcc porting out phone numbers to new phone carrier at 5pm tomorrow. Migrating 400 users and was going to have entire IT team on hand to help. Might have to postpone.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

The worse the roads are, the more accidents, more accident victims, more job security in health care!

RE: OT: Snow Storm - bit_9 - 01-03-2018 10:52 AM

Yeah, good news indeed. I do want and need to come to work Thursday as stated in my other post. I'm the director and have a major phone port to new carrier happening. Our other offices up down coast and inland aren't impacted so marching forward. Would prefer a safer travel in but ultimately I have a truck and will get in but some folks on my team have Toyota prius and crap. So that means I'll be here till 4am if I'm doing it by myself. :) so really I want the rest of my team to get in.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Funny, but not necessarily. We need patients with coverage or an ability to cover the cost of care privately. A lot more patients than most expect are devoid of both.

Grownups typically have work that needs to be done; weather or no weather.

Don't know if I'd use the word grownup but point taken. I can't afford to miss work

Haha, ya. If you skimmed the comments on this board you might be hard pressed to assume most on here are adults. 05-stirthepot 04-chairshot 04-cheers

RE: OT: Snow Storm - DaBigBlue - 01-03-2018 02:33 PM

Be safe guys, sounds like a very strong storm. Our worst storms in the winter come up the coast. If we get anything close to the forecast, Hampton Roads will be a standstill. Sorry for the ones that are required to go out in it.

RE: OT: Snow Storm - monarx - 01-03-2018 02:42 PM

Be safe down there guys. 5 inches in Hampton Roads will paralyze that area for the rest of the week. Glad the hoops team got out of town today.

Ditto. I've been in Arlington for three years now and with the exception of that big ass blizzard two years ago, Norfolk's somehow gotten more snow than us.
