What's the best financial move with Doc? - TTT - 12-30-2017 05:35 PM

What will cost USM more money? Buying out Doc now or the loss of money/revenue that folks won't spend on tix, concessions, etc. for the remainder of Doc's tenure here that his current contract allows? What's the better financial move? Because bball is terrible and I'm curious to know how much total revenue bball is going to lose under Doc.

Gilbert will work quietly to raise the buyout. If Doc is fired during the season you will know he has it. It shouldn’t go on like it did with Green, with a Doc twisting on the vine, but it could if those who want him gone don’t put their money up. Best case is Gilbert gets enough to fire him. Keeping him now will only indicate the funds to fire him aren’t available. At this point he needs to go as soon as possible.

Wow, that joke never gets old.

Can't see him firing Doc midseason.

The jokes are on anyone who ever gave a wet fart about Southern Miss basketball, if not Southern Miss athletics in general.

You’ve become the ex girlfrievd texting 50 times a day to say, “I’m over you.”

And he still believes he has a chance.

If all this money we’re supposedly losing is really there, redirecting it towards a buyout shouldn’t be too difficult. With the exception of a few weeks and some isolated individual games here and there, about 25 years of attendance challenges the premise, though.

It would likely be an announcement that Doc won’t return next year- mutual agreement or something similar. Then he could start looking for a replacement.

Look for an announcement on January 24. Ha.

There is a lot of money to be made in basketball, which we have conveniently ignored for 20+ years. If we get rid of Doc (we should), we need to make a very smart hire. If/when it happens will be Gilbert’s first big test. I believe upgrading the video boards is a sign of setting up a better arena for the next guy.

When we had success, fans ignored winning because they didn’t like the coach (Green was “boaring” and LE coached defense first). When the fans finally liked a coach, he turned out to be a first rate jackhole.

Maybe we need smarter fans.

We will have more wins !
I support Coach Doc Sadler
Tons of Basketball Knowledge and experience, it's hard for any program to come out of what Southern Miss did! Thx to Tyndall

Some people appear to be intentionally delusional.

Like the folks who thought we would beat Florida State even though we lost to Tennessee by 2 touchdowns.

What is the buyout at this point?

RE: What's the best financial move with Doc? - Eagle9 - 01-02-2018 11:27 AM

About 700k I believe.

Any chance that Doc could pay us back some money? It's worth asking...

RE: What's the best financial move with Doc? - usm99 - 01-02-2018 04:13 PM

Back to back losses this upcoming Thursday and Saturday at home to UTEP and UTSA all but guarantees we'll start CUSA play at 0-6 as the following weekend we are at UAB and Middle Tennessee St. which would put us at 3-12 vs D1 teams this year and an 8 game losing streak. If that's not enough to start the dismissal process.

Is the basketball program even worth blowing 700k on?

Ride the contract out and hire someone else afterwards.
