First True Road game vs. Troy - Memphis Blazer - 12-03-2017 10:52 PM

Tuesday is UAB's first true road game of the year. I felt one advantage over Memphis last week was that it was their first true road game, and for a team with a lot of new players, the first true road game can be a problem.

In doing some research for the Blazer Almanac, I found some really interesting stats regarding the first true road game. Overall, UAB is an ugly 14-27 in first true road games of the season

Ehsan is 0-1. First road game was a loss at Kansas. Understandable.

Haase was 1-3. His win was at Northeastern. His losses were at Auburn, at Chattanooga and at Creighton. I would say he should have been 3-1 or 2-2 at worst.

Davis was actually pretty good in first true road games. He was 4-2 with wins over MTSU, Jax State, Troy, and Georgia State and losses at Wichita State and Wyoming. It should be noted that all of his wins were in locations that UAB fans could travel to and make it more of a home court feel.

Anderson was split at 2-2 with losses at Mississippi State and UNLV and wins at Nebraska and Marshall.

Murry Bartow was 2-6. Wins at Texas Tech and Cleveland State, with first road losses to Murray State, Auburn, Vandy and Indiana.

This was the truly surprising stat. Gene Bartow was the worst of all at first true road games. 5-13. And 2 of his wins were against D2 teams in Hawaii like Hawaii-Pacific and Hawaii Loa.

So considering his success, how you do in your first road win may not matter. But I thought it was interesting.

That Kansas game last year was at the Sprint Center in Kansas City so a "neutral" site. I think the first true road game would have been a win at Stephen F. Austin.

You, would think with the record vs. Troy, this would be a giveme game. But theirs always that one time, when a team has grown, and is important to them, Theirs, going to be a first one day and well like you, always want to push the inevitable back another year, it will happen one day. just hope its not this year, Feel Like Troy, has a good team that wants to win but then, I wonder, if its even on their radar or concearn they can lose this game or win and accomplish their goals anyway. Not sure they care, will see if they do.

Hey, we just beat Memphis this year, if that was Memphis. No disrespect to the players of Memphis, but I take no pride in beating that team other then it showing up in the record books as a win. With that said, I would rather win, then lose that game. Ain't that the truth. Would like to see this Memphis Team Play Auburn, to get a true depection of them. They did play Bama tight just did not win the game it was a 12pt difference and Bama, is supposed to be good, real good this year.

In that Nama game, Sexton didn't play, nor did a couple of starters.
