Carma

Treated his players like crap. Treated the media even worse. Basically a hateful person. How anyone could support this man is beyond me.

I just don't understand why he bailed out so quick... i mean UTEP was off to a slow start...but you would think he could ride it out and man-up.. jmo

The new AD was just introduced yesterday and Floyd resigned that day after losing to Lamar. Probably there was a conversation where Floyd was told his days were numbered.

In his career at UTEP, we have hit the ‘start over’ button a few times. I want to say we are on reset #3. A couple of transfers, quitters, and injuries, and we are right back at the reset button. I can see it from his POV. A relevant team is years away at this point. It was time to let someone else get to work.

I think for younger Miners fans, Floyd's just another coach who couldn't get the job done.

For Miner fans my around my age and older, it's a little bittersweet. Don't get me wrong. He needed to go. I've been saying it for the past couple of years. For whatever reason - competitive, health, family - the UTEP basketball program is better off for it.

But, we can still see him sitting on the sidelines next to Haskins. We can remember how he started building UTEP into a powerhouse in the 1980s and early 90s. I remember how worried we all were about that momentum continuing when he left for Idaho.

If they're being honest with you, the vast majority of Miner fans thought that the 2010s were going to be a lot like the 1980s when he was hired. This just doesn't seem the like the way it was supposed to end.
