It can be anything, uniforms, scoreboard, plays, coaches,food, etc
1. The red outer winter coats the players where on the sidelines that have
"NIU HUSKIES" on them are cool, imo.....The long red ones they wear on sidelines when it is cold...and they may be the same ones the past 30 years ! as the look so retro...and very cool looking
2. The fan on the west side who brings the bell to the game and rings it.....You are cool if you are reading this......
3. The home red and black uniforms. If players and coaches are reading this, KEEP THEM ...these
are the uniforms worn when NIU rose to prominence as a top mid major school 2002+.......its called BRANDING.

otherwise the red/black unnies and red/black chant end of third quarter, HUSKIE FIGHT SONG and that's another Huskie first down---it seemed to annoy visitors from BC sitting next to me !!!

Red and Black uniforms. Stick with the basics, old school.
Put the Huskie dog logo back on the helmets. Good that they've branded "NIU".

Winning in a supposed down year
Orange bowl appearance and winning west 6 of last 7 years with 3 different coaching staffs...
Great players that have played here after being overlooked by the P5 teams...Just since 2000 - Turner, Wolfe, Harnish, Lynch, TLL, English, Ward, Diem, ... (I know I am missing some - but a lot more very good players)
Beer on the west side..
What's not cool? Mid-week games and small crowds...

The football program has brought pride to the school with their success and by still exemplifying what college sports is supposed to be about.

For some time now NIU has made a commitment to the academic success of their athletes and they have seen results from this ongoing effort. This has now persisted through more than one University president, AD and coaching staff so it has become an ingrained part of our culture which is really cool.
This is part of the solid foundation that Joe Novak poured during his tenure with the program. In so many ways all of our recent success is built on that firm foundation.

-Sustained success over the past decade with plenty of coaching turnover
-Being in the game at the start of the 4th quarter vs an FSU team that turned out to be as loaded with as much NFL talent as any team in recent memory
-The fact we finally have what I'd consider a dominant and exciting defense, and it's pretty young
-Should be palpable excitement next year as we return most of a good team and have a tough but winnable non-conference schedule.
