As a tiger fan, I was dreading our match-up with SMU with west title on the line, but looking the the posts on one of the SMU message board, they don’t feel the same:

Why in the world would you be dreading this game? Yes SMU is improved, but we're 3 touchdowns better than them if we play our normal game.

Actually I saw a survey recently that said the Memphis fan base is relatively unhappy in comparison to others. And this was football related, I was surprised. I would have thought like you.

West is no longer on the line in the game. All we need is to win one of the remaining two games to win west. But a chance to host the AAC title game could be lost in the game.

A chance to host the title game and also we jeopardize our chances at the NY6 bowl game, as well.

If you actually watched the game, the score wasn't a good indicator of how close the game was. Yes, SMU had chances at home to tie, but most of the game was UCF mistakes keeping SMU in the game.
