Geoff Calkins played a lot of his speech on 92.9 earlier. Was really good.

He's definitely a keeper...

Maybe big money will pony so far up that everything he wants gets done...

Powers that be need to be actively working on mo dollas for him, and his guys.

I am sure that there will be multiple offers for staff as well as CMN.

Is he more or less popular than Paz was at his zenith here?

I didn't know Paz was popular, but maybe he was popular in Memphis. He was just this young guy I thought might save us from total ruin.

And then he was the guy we were supposed to support because recruits read the forums. But nobody liked to hear him talk, even though he never cussed.

And then he brought in the masked feller.......good entertainment.

But then he was the guy who dissed our program ('how many were vacated?'). From that moment on, there could be no more pretending he was part of Memphis BB.

Norvell cannot be mentioned in the same post. He's legit.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and all and he's a heck of a coach, but 2.5 mil a year would make him the highest paid non-P5 coach and make more than Maryland, BC, Mizzou, NC, NC St, Iowa St, Rutgers, Indiana, Pitt, Wake, Kansas, California, and Ole Miss (until they hire a coach that isn't an interim)

He's doing great things, but he's not Nick Saban, yet.

Last I checked, we're ranked higher than pretty much all of those schools.

Last I checked, we don’t have near the TV revenue of pretty much all of these schools.

I want Norvell to stay, but I don’t want to create another Opie Pastner situation where a young up and coming, yet inexperienced coach is overpaid with a long term contract. I say if Norvell turns down 3 mil a year to stay at Memphis, then let him walk.

If the playoffs become 8 teams instead of 4 and the AAC conf champion becomes one of the teams picked in the playoffs, then we have a chance. As long as we are excluded from the playoffs no really good coach will ever be able to stay at Memphis no matter how much they love it.

People keep saying that over and over again. What schools will coaches stay at if offered a shite ton more money. Dont tell me p5 because thats simply not true. There are about 20 schools, thats it. Its a dumb point.

Well you just made my point for me. The really good coaches are going to the places they have a chance to win championships, period. Money is secondary.

you think bert took a pay cut to leave wisconsin to go to arkansas to win championships. ok.
six sec schools have won every championship for 50 years, so i guess the six that havent are are off the list.

i bet you think athletes choose schools based on academic value too.

Seems things are very hard for you to understand so let me TRY and break it down....
If Bert were offered one of those six sec schools, he would jump on it in a heartbeat. See how that works? Probably not.
