MACness

Would love to see a real financial analysis of mid week games. How much did WMU and Kalamazoo give up on the CMU game in order to play midweek? Obviously it's more than just the CMU game, but I would imagine the lost revenue would be quite significant

I would hope that they are getting paid significantly from ESPN have all of these mid week games. I have been saying it for years, we hear all of the spin about how great it is for the program to have that national audience and coverage. Personally, if I am a recruit and I see 1/2 full to 1/3 full stadiums for mid week MACtion, I would be looking to go elsewhere.
For the first time in 27 years, I skipped the CMU/WMU game last week. Why go sit in the miserable weather for an 8pm kickoff, when I could sit in my warm dry home and enjoy the game while watching game 7 of the world series at the same time?

20 years ago, I would have understood why getting a chance to play on national TV was a big deal. In fact, I recall the WMU/Marshall games of the late 90's early 00's on ESPN being a huge deal. Now its just another reason to not go to the games. And it doesn't matter which MAC school we are talking about. Nearly empty stadiums whenever the cameras pan out, is simply not a good look.

It's kind of amazing that you keep coming back here after embarrassing yourself so thoroughly over the last few years.

I know CMU boards aren't known for their high level discourse, but nonetheless.

Heaven forbid he challenge league orthodoxy that all these mid week games are worth it. I have more dignity than to get screwed like this all the time, you should too.
