C-USA Cross Country Championships - WRCisforgotten79 - 10-28-2017 08:45 AM
On Saturday morning, Southern Miss will be hosting (in Clinton, MS) the 2017 C-USA Cross Country Championships. The men's 8K (~5 mile) race is at 9:00, with the women's 5K at 10:00.
Our men's team is pretty good this season, but there is plenty of competition. It looks as if Rice, on paper, should be slotted for 4th, but a good effort might get them 3rd. I don't believe that our guys could finish ahead of either Middle Tennessee or Charlotte.
Our women are down a bit this year, due to not having Cali Roper (graduated), Katie Jensen (she'll compete in outdoor track only) or Abigail Cartwright (redshirt). However, sophomore Khayla Patel and freshman Lourdes Vivas have been running well this fall. The opposition in conference is way down from 2016, as well, so the women have a chance to win again, as they did in 2016.
