I’ve been coming to games since the early 2000s, this is the emptiest I have seen the stadium on a day with decent weather and a good NIU team

This will be the norm going forward, Id get used to it. We have eaten away at the season ticket base with the schedule deterioration, and that is now showing up in the weekday games.

NIU and the MAC deserve attendance like this. They gave us a garbage Saturday schedule and it cost them a lot of Season Ticket Holders. Keep up the bad schedule and you can enjoy division 2

The MAC obviously chose TV dollars over attendance and this is the result. The sad thing is that it kills the fan experience, home field advantage, alumni relations, etc.

Coach Carey said this week that it was good for the exposure and all, but it hurts the community and home crowds.
The MAC decided for us that they would hurt our community, alumni, students, and cash flow....it sucks.

The NIU student attendance has been overrated for awhile now! The East side has always had way more non students than people thought. No excuse for a terrible student turn out other than they do not support NIU Athletics!!!

ding ding ding! finally. This "tv deal" stinks. sorry but i'm not buying that we are getting more exposure on ESPN3 than we would with 20K+ fans in the seats. I will be pleasantly surprised if someone can show me the stats that prove me wrong.
you build a winning program, and the TV comes to you. College Gameday didn't go to Western Michigan last year on a lark.
The big thing this TV deal does is it sends money into the accounts of the conference and schools that couldn't draw before, at the expense of the successful programs.

Yes their numbers are down. Yes NIU athletics pushed them off on the Music Department for funding, etc. But they stay to the very end and are animated enough to give the TV folks something to zoom in on.
