In the Connecticut game Tulsa should have come out doing what they hopefully will do the rest of the year...........throwing the long pass and I don't mean 4 or 5 times a game. Every time Tulsa starts an offensive series, they should be throwing a 25 yd or longer pass on either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd down.......a long pass should be thrown every time they get the ball for several reasons.......1) it could be completed.....quit throwing those 4-6 yds passes when everyone is around the line of scrimmage. 2) Skipper throws the long ball as good as he does the 4-6 pass. 3) If the defense knows you might throw the long pass on any down you won't have the safeties creeping up to the line of scrimmage.......right now, the defense knows we are going to run the ball on first down or throw it to a wide out behind the line of scrimmage, either way, all 11 defenders are within 7 yds of the line of scrimmage........2nd down we are going to run the ball or throw a 5 yd pass...........3rd down we are going to run the ball or throw a 5 yd pass......not very hard to defend. The offensive line has got to improve, some how.......the offensive line is not living up to expectations, Skipper is lucky to get to the count of 3 before he's being chased around. We aren't going any place this year so why not throw a long pass on every down as far as that goes.........but once every offensive series will keep the safeties honest and actually help the running game.

Right now I just get the idea that our weakness is between the ear holes of their FB helmets. Lack of leadership on the field at critical times. Thats why I felt it was a bad thing to start off this year with the team we played and the place it was played. There just seems to be a little confusion. And its not from the staff, but from the field. Call it "underconfidence".

But in the Houston game, they just seemed to play like their hair was on fire. A "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead" kind of attitude.

Unfortunately the rest of the games have not been played with the same enthusiasm as the Houston game. Also There doesn't seem to be much confidence in the QB's. Can't blame them really. If president could throw he would ok. But he can't. Also skipper looks too much like a freshman, raw has too much to learn too quickly. Also gives away what he is going to do. Has trouble reading the defense plus doesn't even seem to go all the way through his reads. Focuses on first receiver too much. Typically like a freshman can be rattled easily when rushed.

This season is what it is. Youth and injuries have hampered us. But on the bright side, we have 4 our of 7 losses that were very winnable for us. Next year, those may very well become W's.

When you think of what we have coming back next year we could be pretty darn good. Of course we thought that this year, but didn't realize how much the inexperience would hurt us.

P.S. Is Keanu Hill getting a medical redshirt this year? I know he was still recovering and I have not seen him play this season.

As far as K Hill is concerned. All I know is that his photo is in the program and he is listed in it. So I assume he is still on the team or at least was at some point this year.

He was hurt last year and maybe that injury is still lingering or effecting his play. But it might be a good question to ask someone close to the situation. We need much better tackling in the secondary from my seat on the west side.
