Hahahahaha. Political parties are entities that try to SWAY people to their POV. Same with corporations who sell products. Most recent statistics show that college professors, national news media journalists/reporters/anchors and Hollywood actors (both sexes) are heavily skewed towards the democratic party and their platform. Don't you think that these institutions are also trying to "brainwash" people too?

Most of my friends are like minded. Never really is a problem for me. I have a couple of crazy Lib friends. I veer from political subjects when around them to avoid hurting their feelings.

There's a neighbor that leans Left and sometimes he tries to talk politics. Trouble is he's not very bright. I'd venture to say that his reading skills are very elementary and so is his common sense. When he tries to debate me I just tell him that I respect his opinion but I don't want to talk politics. I'll never win and it's not because he has better points he shouts me down so I just veer away into something else. I give him kudos though because regardless of his intellect he's done well in his family life. Just shows that everyone that wants to work can support his family.

I have a mix of really liberal and conservative friends. After the election my liberal friends were all in a frenzy but I just bit my tongue and either changed the subject or let them rant while laughing on the inside. Usually I just bring up the latest whatever ballgame and the conversation shifts and all is well.

The issue isn't that the dad moved the right, the daughter moved so far to the left that it made her dad look like an right-wing extremist.
My father has voted Dem his entire life up until the last presidential election (he voted for Gary Johnson). He often quotes Ronald Reagan in saying "he didn't leave the Democratic Party, the party left him".
