Memphis Houston Rivalry turning into a classic - msu65 - 10-19-2017 11:56 PM

The two western division foes have now split the last 4 games with Memphis scoring 148 points and Houston 145 points over that span. Perennial clashes seem to have no end in sight with the young talent on both teams.

All four games were decided in the fourth quarter with two of those on the last play of the game.

It doesn't sting quite as bad when you know you have done it to them before too in recent years. The back and forth on close endings is what makes CFB great.

I hate everything, especially the idiot who tossed a beer on the Memphis bench at the end of the game. Freaking idiot. Beer is all we have now as a Longhorn ruins our program.

Rivals for sure

After USF vs. UCF, there's no doubt in my mind that Memphis-Houston football is the other premiere rivalry in this league.

This should be a national network game every year. Games are always flat-out amazing, even for neutral observers

Not the outcome Houston wanted but an amazing game that kept viewers glued to the tv

The last 4 games have all been heart stoppers. I'm starting to warm up to this as a rivalry, as well.

But please keep Applewhite, lol.

The key to a rivalry is that both teams have to be near equal at the top of their conference for multiple years. Even Alabama/Tennessee "the 3rd Saturday in October" has disappeared due to Tennessee's long term suck.

Definitely should have "Teh" in the title.

I agree. It is nice that the rivalry warmed so quickly despite residing in separate divisions in C-USA v2 ... whew, that East division we were in was a geographic mess.

When you look at it this way -- three private schools and one Federal in the division are the others in the Wst --- by default, it is almost as natural of a rivalry as UCF/USF. I would say that the War on I-4 is our #1 and helps too that those are the two best teams this year.

I agree. UCF-USF is the best football rivalry, and UH-UM is quickly becoming the best one in the West.

Navy vs. both of them are good ones, as well.

I saw someone on twitter who called it The Battle for the Old Oaken Mixtape. I can dig that.
