It amazes me how much you can tell that MLB and Fox want the Yankees in the World Series. Joe Buck can't even hide it.

No question about it.

RE: ALCS game 3 - jhruzek - 10-16-2017 08:35 PM

And Yuli's massive blast stays in the park??

RE: ALCS game 3 - Fort Bend Owl - 10-16-2017 08:51 PM

Well it won't be a sweep. 8-0 Yankees in the 4th. I'm not sure I want Morton pitching game 7 if there is a game 7.

I think we pitch Peacock tonight and McCullers tomorrow night. Save our two big guns for optimal conditions in Minute Maid and or the start of the World Series if we win one of the two this week.

RE: ALCS game 3 - Fort Bend Owl - 10-17-2017 07:19 AM

McCullers starting tonight (and I'm sure Peacock will be ready early just in case). No way do you start Peacock tomorrow - Keuchel and Verlander have to be the Game 5 and 6 starters. Hopefully there won't be a Game 6, but if there is, you need Verlander. If they make it to the Series, there are 2 days off after a potential game 7 of the ALCS before the 1st game of the World Series.

McHugh pitched well last night in relief so he's always an option to start a game now too.

Have to go with Keuchel in Game 5, especially if Yankees win today. The Astros lack of competent starting pitching and middle relief (outside of Keuchel and Verlander) has gotten exposed in both Game 3s.

RE: ALCS game 3 - Antarius - 10-17-2017 06:27 PM

On to Game 4, and Yuli Gurriel clears the bases in the 6th.

Now Astros 3 - Evil Empire 0. T7th

RE: ALCS game 3 - Antarius - 10-17-2017 06:28 PM

Make that Astros 4 - Evil empire 0

RE: ALCS game 3 - Fort Bend Owl - 10-17-2017 07:10 PM

Astros suspect bullpen making it interesting, 4-2 now in the 8th but the Yankees are threatening. Giles in to attempt a 6-out save.

RE: ALCS game 3 - Antarius - 10-17-2017 07:19 PM

Well, ****

RE: ALCS game 3 - westsidewolf1989 - 10-17-2017 07:54 PM

Shades of Rice vs ULaLa circa 2015. Impressive choke job.

RE: ALCS game 3 - Fort Bend Owl - 10-18-2017 06:41 AM

Season may come down to today's game. I don't think Houston can win a game 7 and if they lose a game with Keuchel or Verlander on the mound, it will be a serious blow to their psyche.

Astros bats have got to get it going. They're on a really scary trend in the ALCS (going from 6 hits in game 1 to 5 in game 2, to 4 and 3 the last two games; if there is a game 7, we're going to get no-hit).

RE: ALCS game 3 - Neely's Ghost - 10-18-2017 10:36 AM

As a Rangers fan, I think it was a courageous show of solidarity for baseball in the state of Texas for the Astros to implement the Rangers regular season bullpen strategy in the middle of the ALCS. I tip my hat Stros. Thank you

Well Houston is going to have to win Friday and Saturday now to advance to the World Series. They did get all of 4 hits today but 0 runs. The offense has completely disappeared - still no hits for Reddick and McCann in the ALCS but they have plenty of company below the Mendoza line.

I'd say Hinch might need to shake up the lineup some but honestly I'm not sure who on the bench would be an improvement. Can Verlander pitch 18 innings Friday and Saturday?

RE: ALCS game 3 - OldOwl - 10-18-2017 08:45 PM

The Astros will not beat the Yankees so no need to get too excited. I bet Cleveland is sicker then us. They are young and it’s their first playoff experience. They have no bullpen and Childs is hit and miss. Blame this on the owner. I hope he will not be so cheap in the future.

Hard to call him cheap given what he committed to in Verlander. The bullpen prior to the All-Star break was as good as there was in baseball. Their collapse in the second half is puzzling, to say the least.

Hopefully the Astros can come back and win the ALCS, but after the Dodgers’ performance tonight (and this entire postseason), I’d say the Yankees and Astros are battling for the right to be World Series runner up.

That's just a little too weauxfy for me to agree with but it's nice not to have to think about that very weird losing streak in September.

Roster not set yet of course but it looks like we'll have an Owl in the World Series.
