Tonight’s game attendance was terrible. Thought homecoming could be the savior but few showed up. Actual butts in the seat between 15k - 17k. Last two home games could be ugly

It really is. No excitement in the air. Usually HC brings excitement. Tonight, nothing. I like the idea bringing the screaming eagle back upon getting first down. Know some dislike it but I kinda enjoy it.

Count is and always has been “tickets distributed” plus in-kind comps, students scanned, staff, bands, etc. The big difference is that Gilbert is no longer willing to make thousands of tickets available for giveaways. In the past, they’d give businesses around town freebies to hand out. Those were counted in attendance whether they were actually used or not because they were “distributed”.

You can immediately gauge the crowd by the attendance at Eagle Walk....and that TOO has been pitiful.
I have no doubt they are counting attendance differently, but the "crowds" are down too ( I don't believe for a second that the 30K we are used to having for homecoming was,say, really 25K. 28K maybe...and we are waaaaaay off that this year.
Time for some folks to get off their azzzes at USM and promote our sports programs, even though lots of them are closet MSUcks and OPiss fans...

Just like the the coach's personality and the product on the field. Hopson is boring and hard to listen too and the product on the field is hard to watch.

I agree with FBE about his personality.....however, I don't have to like one to work within the construct when attempting to achieve wins is the overall goal...
if you haven't figured it out yet, this is why I liked LE and Monk straight out of the gate.....I'm an alpha guy....hop isn't.....
too many in this neighborhood don't have the capacity to look past the things that don't matter....(will someone start another uni thread....sigh)
"opposites attract" can work....my only knock to date is how he's recruiting at QB....
dual threat is a prescription for injury.....all you have to do is recruit speed on both sides and find someone that has a clear head on their shoulders that can dispense the pigskin.....
we currently don't have one of those guys.....

I didn't attend. I have plenty of friends who didn't attend. It's not worth my dollar to drive down and watch the product on the field. It's not fun. The atmosphere at the game isn't fun and the two times I've gone this year I've left frustrated by the quality of the product. And atmosphere is a lot more than just winning. It's the music, it's the experience. There is none. It's like I'm watching a high school football team play with how quiet the music is and how engaging the experience overall is. Though if I'm honest, that might be an insult to some high school teams in the state.
I love USM, but until I see actual commitment to improvement and not just catch-phrase slogans to drum up minuscule support, I'll wait until there are actually interesting games to go to. Watching us play an 0-6 UTEP team (and look quite bad doing it) was not on my list (and apparently many others') of fun ideas for a Saturday.

Rock, traditionally I’d agree with your attendance commentary. Don’t show, STFU kinda thing. Looking into the crowds, or lack thereof, we’re losing ‘em. Eagnbran is correct, atmosphere is absolutely boring. Actually, boring would be a step up.

If the people who have come to games for years without missing are now suddenly not showing up, then we should really listen to them and not isolate them for not seeing the overall product and vision of the university as something to support.
