The more we doubt them, the better they seem to respond. Now we need the defense to stop them again.

RE: Game Day: Toledo - Bob Wickersham - 10-07-2017 02:09 PM

He's in!!!!

RE: Game Day: Toledo - EagleSam - 10-07-2017 02:10 PM

Yes. We should use white shoes to make it harder on the game officials... 03-lmfao

One of the replays was definitive.

RE: Game Day: Toledo - Bob Wickersham - 10-07-2017 02:24 PM

No problem. keep em out of the end zone and we still win. Suck it up D!!!

RE: Game Day: Toledo - EMU03' - 10-07-2017 02:25 PM

Terrible drop by Porter.

RE: Game Day: Toledo - Bob Wickersham - 10-07-2017 02:27 PM

If we win...Jalen Phelps just won it. CLUTCH.

RE: Game Day: Toledo - Bob Wickersham - 10-07-2017 02:41 PM

Just don't have THE QB to be great.

RE: Game Day: Toledo - EagleSam - 10-07-2017 02:42 PM

Awful throw. Awful way to lose.

Great game by our defense. If only we could get some consistent offensive play for them.

Not looking forward to the Army game.

Looking forward to next year when Roback is gone - too much of a gun slinger mentality this year. Unfortunately Keen might still be there calling the plays.

RE: Game Day: Toledo - EMU03' - 10-07-2017 02:47 PM

So frustrating. We are showing we can compete with anyone on our schedule, but we beat ourselves.

This is a really good team...you put Logan Woodside on this team and it is undefeated and dare I say, has a chance to run the table. Sooooo close!

I'll be honest. I'm a bigger critic of Brogan than most but to blame these losses on him is just absurd. Granted, he has made inexcusable mistakes in big moments. That is quickly becoming his legacy. He hasn't shown the ability to be an "Aaron Rodgers-esque" QB who can save you in the last two minutes.

However, our special teams is horrendous and continues to put us in terrible positions. If you can punt, you might not give up that TD in the 3rd. And Special Teams more than certainly beat us at UK. (this is our biggest issue for sure)

Also, while Brogan can't throw that last ball, Porter has to finish that route. Stick your foot in the ground and get to the sideline. As a receiver, you have a responsibility to beat your man to the spot. Porter ran a lazy curved route and got under-cut. And that was following the dropped pass that triggered the interception. He has continued to make big plays but be unreliable. That drop leading to the INT was the play that lost this game.

I think we might have to watch how the defense performs the rest of the season. We have a legit top 20 defense and we can't come up with W's for them. Creighton will have to do a great job keeping this team unified if the offense can't get their butts in gear. The game against Army will be a huge turning point in the season.

You really need to get off the Logan love fest. EMU has no running game and poor special teams. It's a team game!

I agree! However to be completely objective too, if Roback throws the ball just a tad more accurately on the 2 point conversion where it becomes an issue of his foo being in bounds, it wouldn't have necessarily come down to this drive at the end. I think part of the problem too is that they are restricting him from making the types of plays he did last year where we needed to score a ton to win. This is the product of us having a top defense and trying to play with that strength.

Bottom line, we will be in every game this year and there will be close games that will come down to our defense making a play aka Rutgers and in those situations I like our chances. To be honest 2-3 at this point isn't horrible considering many of us would have assumed losses to UK, Toledo and Rutgers coming in. We have an easier portion of our schedule at the end so we are set up to make a streak. I think our defense will be much better prepared for Army next week too as I've seen a lot better positional play and tackling. If our DL is as strong as it is, we should have a shot next week.

Anyone on campus know someone who can walk on as a Punter? Lol.

I totally agree that he is not solely to blame for the losses, but he's definitely not helping the team with these horrible decisions. I think (whether warranted or not) there's to much pressure on him mentally and schematically. I.e. no running game, chucking the ball down field on 3rd and short.

RE: Game Day: Toledo - Bob Wickersham - 10-07-2017 03:55 PM

Brogan Roback is not horrible but there is a fine line between GREAT and decent. It is not all on him but with a great QB we must admit that this team is probably undefeated...Toledo is the best team on the schedule so a magical, WMU type season was right there on the cusp.

RE: Game Day: Toledo - EagleTough - 10-07-2017 08:24 PM

Same sh+t, different day. Let's say it again:

Great defense
Terrible special teams/horrible horrible horrible punter
Poor run game. (Where the h+ll is Turner???)
Mediocre Roback. Prior to season I thought maybe an NFL chance......no more. Misses wide open 2nd and 3rd options constantly, and continues to force those sideline lobs when his receiver is blanketed. Such a ridiculously low percentage throw but you simply can't coach it out of the kid.
Terrible play calling. On that last drive we have no business/no reason to run the ball. After quickly getting across midfield we had a run for lost yardage, and another run where we got a 10 yard holding call. Infuriating.

How many more winnable games are we going to lose in the exact same fashion? Such a missed opportunity this year with this defense.

Our DC will get poached long before Creighton gets other offers. Keen just not getting the job done.
