For the grief that Murphy gets for recruiting, both he and Creighton, have come up with successful strategies.

CC has shown skill to successfully evaluate and sign JUCOs.

Murphy uses JUCOs, but it seems his modus operandi is to go after players who have played a year or two in D-I.

I'd rather evaluate the tape of a kid in the W. KY U. vs Ohio U. game over a player playing a game vs. Temperance (MI) Christian (I made it up).

If Jackson returns we will have a nice back court next year

Does anyone still doubt my statement that some of the best high school basketball is played in the D.C. area and that is where recruiting gold is?

This is the story of the WCAC (Washington Catholic Athletic Conference) championship game. It featured as many as 13 future D-I prospects. Game sold out American University's arena.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/highschools/best-league-in-the-country-wcac-not-local-college-ball-delivers-dcs-best-hoops/2018/02/26/e6fab970-1b17-11e8-b2d9-08e748f892c0_story.html?hpid=hp_local-news_ams-wcac-1030pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.f34fc050dbea

A little alumni name dropping:

"If the District of Columbia-Maryland-Virginia (or DMV) area is a premier high school basketball hotbed — and it is — then the WCAC is a full-on talent-producing machine.

Markelle Fultz, the first overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in last summer’s NBA draft, was playing for DeMatha just two winters ago. NBA all-star Victor Oladipo, now a point guard for the Indiana Pacers, played for the Stags. Chris Lykes, who led Gonzaga to last year’s WCAC title, is a key freshman contributor to Miami’s push toward the NCAA tournament. Remember Kris Jenkins, that guy who hit that magical, buzzer-beating three to give Villanova the 2016 national championship? He played for Gonzaga, too. "

"After the girls’ game ended, and the crowd swelled to capacity, as many as 13 future Division I players took the court for the boys’ championship game. The area’s other top prospects and coaches and trainers, after exchanging bro hug after customary bro hug, settled into their seats. College coaches from Maryland, Villanova, North Carolina State and Penn State, among many others, dotted the arena.
Heck even our latest recruit hailed from Bowie, Md (a D.C. suburb) before going to prep school...

I'm posting this with no knowledge of his recruiting.

Lyndon, a h.s. junior, is Minnie's brother.

Yes I know, it is interesting that none of the recruiting services had this player on our radar.

EMU should start recruiting the Huron freshman Devin Womack. This kid has potential and we need to keep an eye on him.

This kid Wade who signed with Duquesne (why I don't know) is a MAC level recruit.

Because Keith Dambrot is Duquesne's HC.

With Parris and Tourne for 2018 are we adding anyone else?

Anyone have a scouting report on these two? And how has Silver looked in practice? Just trying to get a feel for next year's newcomers.

Sad but it didn't used to be this way.

Atlantic 10 has always been a strong conference, Xavier and Temple were perennial sweet 16 contenders. UMass was the number 1 team in the country during Marcus Camby/John Calipari teams. Duquesne has been a cellar dweller in the league for decades. After some attrition, the conference nabbed top mid-majors from the Colonial, Horizon, and Southern conferences.

The MAC plays football and I am glad they do as it offers excitement for four more months to the University experience and also is a far bigger revenue source thanks to television. The A10, however, now plows all of its resources (money) into basketball and it shows. They waived the white flag and ran from the pigskin. I'm glad the MAC did not.

Basketball is a better return on investment. A million dollar coach in the MAC could start a dynasty since there are two decent coaches in the conference it's ripe for the taking.

Parris just scored 25 for Trinity (TX) in their loss in the JUCO Div I tournament, Trinity ended up ranked 5th nationally and Parris had three teammates ranked in the top 100 2018 players including one ranked as number 1. Most of his offers were from low majors but he did have one from UTEP. My feeling is that he is a combo guard who is a streak shooter can be red hot or ice cold but could give us instant offense off the bench.

Tourne is more difficult because he was injured most of the past two years, if he recovers and can stay healthy he could allow us to redshirt King or Jones next year.
