Memphis and UCF trying to get game played 9/30 - TigerGrad02 - 09-14-2017 10:04 AM

On twitter. Buyout with Georgia State is 800k. Would think that conference would be footing at least some of that if it happens.

Sorry if this was already posted. Didn't see it.

Some...pffft....All

Do we get any money from the UCF gate? If we are in the running for the conference championship delay the championship game for a week.

Not a deep pockets league. Will they pay the buyouts?

Doesn't make sense to buyout GSU for $800K unless the conference & UCF cover it.

Why would the buyout be 800k? We would defer the game to next year and Georgia State would end up getting an extra home game out of it. Have UCF pay Maine and call it a draw.

The amount makes no sense unless we don't have to go their place ever and they play us at home. They are still going to get a home game out of it and will still get revenue from the gate.

A home-and-home with Georgia State? Interesting.

JK. But we already play them next season:

09/01 - Mercer
09/15 - Georgia State
09/22 - South Alabama
10/20 - at Missouri

Would think that the conference covers at least a majority of the buyout, if GSU sticks to its guns, but I think we work out something other than 800k.

Could be reduced $ or like you said, just move the game to their place next year.

We also are in need of one more non-conference game for 2019. Currently have Ole Miss here and @ both ULM and South Alabama.

RE: Memphis and UCF trying to get game played 9/30 - Tigx - 09-14-2017 10:20 AM

And we already have two road games in '19. Could give Georgia State the return home game in '20:

2019
08/31 - Ole Miss
09/14 - at South Alabama
09/28 - at ULM

2020
09/05 - Arkansas State
09/12 - at Purdue
09/26 - UTSA

2021
09/11 - at Arkansas State
09/18 - Mississippi State
09/25 - at UTSA

2022
09/03 - Arkansas State
09/17 - North Texas
09/24 - at Mississippi State

2023
09/09 - at Arkansas State
09/16 - at North Texas
09/23 - Missouri

If I had to guess, they will probably be buying that one out and not making the trip up to Memphis. That program is about to be decimated by the NCAA and they'd rather pay to not play than take a major beat down from the Tigers.

I thought the league had some pretty deep coffers via the buyouts from the Big East, but it's been a while since all that went down . . . .

Because it's in the contract unless you want to give up a home game next season

Can you, per the contract, buyout a game 2 weeks before it's scheduled to be a played?

RE: Memphis and UCF trying to get game played 9/30 - TigerGrad02 - 09-14-2017 12:04 PM

Being reported conference will cover any buyout costs.

Agree

This was the road game a lot of Tiger fans were planning on going to. Would probably mess people's travel plans up. Just doesn't seem worth it.

All the more reason I hope they leave it all alone.
