SEC Week 3 Sked - vandiver49 - 09-12-2017 08:33 AM

So the remnants of Irma were greatly exaggerated in my neck of the woods. But I'm gonna have to go down to FL to assist with repairs. Anyway, without further ado (winner in bold);

UT @ FL - the location played and the game itself is still TBD
Samford @ UGA
SCAR @ UK
Purdue @ Mizzou
KSU @ Vandy
Colorado St @ Bama
Arky - off mercifully
Mercer @ AU
LSU @ MSST
Ole Miss @ Cal
ULL @ A&M

Not much to whet the appetite this weekend. The Gators vs. Vols game is a shadow of its former self. Word is they could play the game at Mercedes Benz Stadium if the can get the soccer game moved. Otherwise it could be played at the former Turner Field. I'll probably watch the Gamecocks for a little while and see if Muschamp's offense is legit. That Vandy-KSU match is tricky as the Wildcats haven't played anyone of note yet.

Tenn @ FL* - FL at neutral site, Tenn if played in their state
Samford @ UGA*
SCAR* @ UK - that defense from Muschamp...
Purdue* @ Mizzou - Purdue looked good against Ohio state
KSU @ Vandy* - candy with home team edge, gamesva voin flip
Colorado St @ Bama*
Arky - off mercifully ---Bret gotta fix a whole lot that shouldn't be broken
Mercer @ AU*
LSU* @ MSST - would like to watch this game without the TV crew making fun of coach O
Ole Miss @ Cal*
ULL @ A&M*

RE: SEC Week 3 Sked - Gamecock - 09-12-2017 09:58 AM

Beat me to it this week.

TAMU 30, Louisiana 7 - Aggies struggling but still too talented
Tennessee 31, Florida 13 - Florida offense is bad
Auburn 45, Mercer 10 - Aubbie easily
Missouri 28, Purdue 27 - Tigers bounce back
Alabama 42, Colorada St 3 - Too much
Miss State 35, LSU 28 - Nick Fitzgerald is really, really underrated
Georgia 34, Samford 14 - UGA offense continues to struggle a bit
Kansas State 27, Vandy 14 - K State is my playoff sleeper team
South Carolina 31, Kentucky 30 - This game worries me but I can't explain why
California 38, Ole Miss 20 - Ole Miss just isn't a good team right now

Tennessee over Florida (but UT usually screws up the obvious)
Georgia over Samford (new QB gains confidence)
South Carolina over Kentucky (but these are the kind of games that the Gamecocks have struggled to win)
Missouri over Purdue (This game will be close, but only if the Missouri D finds a pulse. The Missouri offense is the better of the two units)
Kansas State over Vandy (in a close one because Snyder always gets more out of his 3 stars than anybody else)
Bama over Colorado State (big)
Auburn over Mercer (big but ugly and worthlessly. Gus will run the same plays that work over and over again and work on nothing that needs to be improved)
Miss State over L.S.U. (because it is in StarkVegas and because Miss State is a very solid team that will beat Arkansas, A&M, Ole Miss, and possibly Auburn, and because L.S.U. always believes its own headlines).
Ole Miss over Cal. (because nobody expects them to do anything and Cal has a suspect defense).
A&M maybe over Louisiana Lafayette (ULL isn't a stinker and is certainly better than Nichols. If the Aggies don't play with an attitude they could lose this one.)

Soon....soon

RE: SEC Week 3 Sked - murrdcu - 09-16-2017 11:55 AM

A&M looking shaky early on, bails themselves out of of 3rd and 30+ with a 76 yard TD

RE: SEC Week 3 Sked - murrdcu - 09-16-2017 01:49 PM

Would you look at that, A&M starts running the ball in the second half against the 129th rank rush defense in fbs and score two straight td 's. Who would have thought that

RE: SEC Week 3 Sked - murrdcu - 09-16-2017 01:54 PM

Memphis vs a top 25 UCLA in Memphis has a stadium roughly half full. That's gotta knock them down the expansion candidate rankings for sure.

Northern Illinois upset Nebraska

this IMO is the only justification for those AstroTurf posters that advocate for OU and Texas to the B1G

RE: SEC Week 3 Sked - murrdcu - 09-16-2017 03:31 PM

Missouri is getting murdered by Purdue.

Would not be surprised if Odem was fired at halftime. That bad. Can't stop the bubble screen.

RE: SEC Week 3 Sked - murrdcu - 09-16-2017 04:21 PM

28-0 Purdue over Mizzou with 2' left in half.

What going on with Auburn? Only up by 4 on Mercer?

Mizzou is turrible. I thought the Vols offense was bad

SEC Week 3 Sked - vandiver49 - 09-16-2017 05:14 PM

This UT v UF game is pure torture. Nick Saban has singlehandedly decimated coaching competency within the conference.

This may be the worst Missouri team I have ever seen. I do not even have words for this beat down.04-jawdrop

RE: SEC Week 3 Sked - JRsec - 09-16-2017 07:19 PM

There are two SEC schools playing great football today: Miss State / L.S.U..

South Carolina is tight early with Kentucky. And so far Vandy looks okay too!

SEC Week 3 Sked - vandiver49 - 09-17-2017 06:22 AM

There was a lot of bad football this weekend

Ole Miss lost their kicker on an extra point. It killed them late. South Carolina's stud back broke his leg. Tennessee left 15 points on the field. LSU isn't bad, Mississippi State was just that good. Auburn and A&M still stink offensively. It's hard to tell about Georgia. Vanderbilt played a solid defensive game. Kentucky is strong but not flashy. There literally are no words for Missouri. And Florida is mediocre at best. It's still hard to know if Arkansas was that bad, or T.C.U. was good.

My wife and I agreed, that nationally speaking, this has been the worst, most boring, opening of college football that we can remember. I chalk it up to the dumbing down of everything in this country. By that what I'm saying is that the players lack a fundamental overall knowledge of the game so they don't think through plays like they once did. They lack fundamental playing skills. And all of this stems from a collection of coaches that don't know how to coach, meaning they don't know how to teach and develop players, but rather just know how to recruit.

Those coaches making the biggest impact and winning the most still know how to teach skills. And the teams where players don't quit on plays are now in the minority. I see a lot of teams that have big bodies just standing around. It's pathetic.

That post was so enlightening that the three month expired canned roll of biscuits exploded all over the kitchen table from my hand. All fingers still here just got a lot of dough to pick up off the floor...And need a new cup of coffee too
