GT @ UCF cancelled. - Kruciff - 09-11-2017 03:13 PM

What a shitshow. Waste of a season entirely.

7 home games, now down to 5 with 2 of the top 3 cancelled.

GT @ UCF cancelled. - Westhoff123 - 09-11-2017 03:15 PM

At this rate ucf isn't going to have a strong enough schedule to even have the possibility of being ranked.

RE: GT @ UCF cancelled. - ShockerFever - 09-11-2017 03:28 PM

Why is it being cancelled? From what I've seen thus far, is that damage reports have been relatively weak. Did a 10 foot storm surge hit Orlando that I'm not aware of?

Apparently Rick "Lord Voldemort" Scott volunteered our campus to host 1,000+ National Guard troops and their entire armada.

This is getting out of control. I understand safety and all, but NC gets hit by hurricanes a lot and we have no issues. We had major flooding last year during our hurricane. All we had to do was move the game against Navy to our bye week, no issue. We did not have to cancel two games. We also were able to play our game at USF while the hurricane hit.

That's an honorable thing to do. I'm not sure why this upsets you given what just happened in Florida.

You're right. One size fits all when you're talking about hurricanes and football games.

Or maybe UCF doesn't have a bye week in common with Memphis or GT.

Seriously this blows, but there's not really anything that can be done. The campus has been shut down and classes won't even resume until Thursday. With nearly the whole team off campus and spread out all over the place getting everyone back to put on a football game is just not possible, especially while the stadium and practice fields are being used as a staging center for the National Guard.

Was hoping to see how UCF defense lined up against GT...

Why didn't he offer UF's campus? There's an empty stadium in Downtown Orlando with more than enough space to use.

Lakeland has plenty of open space, much closer to easy interstate access? Why UCF? Rick Scott has done ZERO favors for UCF, why should we do anything for him?

I understand the Memphis situation however Georgia Tech game should have been played.

Is the option for CT to host the game not available? This seems like a complete loss of a season now. I can't remember the last time a team only played 10 games...do you guys have to get to 6 wins still, or will 5-5 suffice for bowl eligibility?

RE: GT @ UCF cancelled. - Philipvarg - 09-11-2017 03:54 PM

how about going to GT and put a whoopin on them..

Just spoke to a really good source at #GaTech who said UCF is cancelling the GT game because UCF released their players and can't practice.

Kelly Quinlan‏ @Kelly_Quinlan 45m 45 minutes ago
So the biggest issue with playing the game in general is that Frost let his players go home instead of a plan they had to stay together.

Kelly Quinlan‏ @Kelly_Quinlan 45m 45 minutes ago
Apparently many of the UCF football players are stuck away from campus and that is part of the cancellation along with them not come to ATL

Justin Rowland‏ @justin_rowland 40m40 minutes ago
Why not switch the home & home?

Kelly Quinlan‏@Kelly_Quinlan 40m40 minutes ago
GT offered to do that, UCF declined per my sources.

RE: GT @ UCF cancelled. - NothingButKnight - 09-11-2017 03:57 PM

Yay, so we get a 1-game series @GaTech for all intents and purposes.

RE: GT @ UCF cancelled. - Kruciff - 09-11-2017 03:58 PM

Would GT really be willing to switch home and homes for this year?

I think it likely that UCF playing @ GT, was intrinsic on playing @GT again next year according to the schedule, which obviously is a non-starter.

IDK, maybe because UCF is centrally located and it's state property.

My other team LSU has had some scheduling issues the last two years (missed one game each year, 5 road SEC games this year), but this is far worse. Maybe they'll offer another year down the road to come back to UCF, but I doubt it.

On the plus side, we get to avoid the GaTech chop-block. They put a hurting on a lot of Tennessee players, I hear.

You know, sometimes being a good human is about more than just scratching each other's backs.
