I just don't see an issue with Notre Dame's independence.
I'm not sure of many things but one of the things I am sure of is Notre Dame will still be Notre Dame to its legions of fans when The ACC's Grant of Rights expires in 20 years.
As I have said before the arrangement benefits both The ACC and Notre Dame. When it stops being beneficial leaders of either party will address it at that time. To me it's a non-issue.

If they do though they better lower their admission standards for their athletes or their brand will continue to decline. As for now, the deal is good for the ACC.

It is just "wishful thinking" on the part of some fans of other schools, that is all.
This subject has come up every year since the late Nineties.
Almost every post since then predicts the same demise.

I'm 55 years old. I'll be long dead and buried before Notre Dame joins a conference. It's an irrelevant issue to me.

That's fine but I don't see ND being an elite football program again if they don't. My opinion is that in this day & age ND mystic is more of them being a successful catholic educational institution rather than being independent. Recruits today are far more material than they have been in the past. ND has needlessly put itself on an unleveled playing field, in my opinion, but that's their prerogative.
As for the current ND/ACC deal, it seems to be good for both parties & I don't see anything changing until the status quo does. What you have to admire about ND is how they have stuck it out while other similar universities, IVY, didn't. ND has proven that you can be a world class university & have a quality D1 football program. None of that has to do with being football independent.
